Upon
entering just their fifth year of business, MEGCO finds themselves at the top
of National Construction Codes Inspection agencies in West Virginia and the
only inspection firm that is certified and approved by Allegany County, Maryland
to conduct all their required building permits inspections. MEGCO is also an
approved inspection agency for Allegheny Power, FmHA, USDA and other Federal
and State mortgage programs.
Ron
Mathias, CEO and founder of MEGCO moved the home office from the Morgantown
area to the Grand Central Business Center in Keyser last year in order to be
more centrally located to the expanding business
Mathias says that the increasing adoption of building codes in West Virginia and surrounding states will increase the need for certified inspectors and it takes several years to obtain the needed requirements for National and State Certification. The MEGCO inspectors have passed tests required by the different jurisdictions in Electrical, Plumbing, Structural, Mechanical and lead paint inspections. MEGCO is licensed by the Maryland State Plumbing Board, the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the Maryland State Code Officials, EPA for Lead Paint, West Virginia General Building Contractor, West Virginia Electrical Contractor and the West Virginia Board of Health for Septic System& MEGCO holds membership in BOCA, CABO, ICC, the National Association of Electrical Inspectors, National Fire Protection Association, Western Maryland Home Builders Association and the West Virginia Code Officials.
Mathias is very proud that the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office is recommending MEGCO to state residents who are having problems with electrical systems in one and two family dwellings. MEGCO has also been recommended to conduct electrical inspections at several of West Virginia’s larger residential projects, such as the 200 plus condo units at Snowshoe.
Jack Jamison, MEGCO’s North Central WV Regional Manager, agrees with his CEO that the superior service given customers, knowledge of the Codes and the quality of the field inspectors will keep MEGCO at the top of their field for many years to come. Both Jamison and Mathias are currently working with the WV State Fire Marshal, WV Code Officials, WV Legislators and WV Building Officials in trying to enact legislation to require that all Inspectors in the state have certifications, insurance and licensed by a state agency.
MEGCO has a growing list of Real Estate Companies, Banks, Mortgage Companies, Contractors, Homebuyers and Insurance Companies requesting Structural Inspections of homes and businesses, both existing and new construction. Cliff Bennett, a resident of Keyser, joined the company last fall after completion of the Certification program and has been appointed Manager of that division of MEGCO.
