The Quidditch Match
By Molly of Ravenclaw
Harry Potter stared down at his glass of Pumpkin Cider.  He couldn't have been more nervous.  Tomorrow was the Quidditch match, and you could already tell it was not going to be a good one.
Last year, when Gryffindor had beat Slytherin for the Quidditch Cup, the Slytherin team had been so mad that they set the Gryffindor teams' brooms on fire, including Harry's precious Firebolt.  Now they were going to have to play on brooms from 33 B.C.  The brooms were called Velvet Landing, and they were awful.  During practices the brooms zig-zaged, went very slow, did not do what you wanted it to do, and they broke in midair.
"Let's face it," said George Weasley, "the day we win this Quidditch match is the day Voldemort sends Harry a lacey Valentine."
"Now, Weasley," said Wood.  "Just because we have worthless flying twigs for brooms and just because the Hufflepuff has had the most training all year and not to mention they're on Nimbus Two-Thousands, and just because we lost our last game because of these dumb brooms and the fact that Katie Bell is sick and Neville Longbottom has to take her place does not mean we'll lose."
Wood looked around at all the Gryffindors staring at him and said, "eat everyone, and go to bed early.  We can't afford to lose this game."
As Harry, Ron, and Hermione walked up to the Gryffindor tower, Hermione said, "Harry, don't let it get to you.  You'll win, and if you lose, it doesn't matter."
"What do you mean 'It doesn't matter?'  Of course it matters!  If we lose this game, we won't be able to get the Cup!"  Harry cried.
"Hufflepuff is only talk Harry.  They only think they're good, but you'll beat 'em to death." said Ron comfortingly.
The next morning, in the changing rooms...
"OK" said Wood as Harry pulled on his Quidditch robe in the changing room.  "Neville, do you remember what to do?"
"No."  Said Neville.  But Wood didn't hear this.  "You're all going to do great.  I just know it.  I'm sure this time no one's broom will explode."  He looked around.  "But when they do, remember to try to land on your feet and think happy thoughts."
"Perfect," said Fred Weasley.  "My happy thoughts will be of sanitary brooms."
Five minutes later, they rose high into the air, which was difficult, because of the Velvet Landings.  Hufflepuff sped 50 feet up while the audience cheered and the Gryffindors tried to get their brooms to fly.
"Okay," said Lee Jordan.  "Hufflepuff 25 points, Gryffindor 5 points.  Kaite Bell has a fever and taking her place is Neville Longbottom.  Poor Katie.  A fever is such an awful thing.  Get well soon!  We miss you, Kate!  We-"
"Jordan, you can gush at Bell all you want after the game," said Professor McGonagall.
"The Gryffindors are on Velvet Landings, very ancient brooms.  In fact--whoops!  Fred and Ashley's brooms just broke in half at the same time - amazing how those ancient brooms are - OK, Alicia takes the ball, passes it to Longbottom, Longbottom drops it, Andrew Lexin of Hufflepuff catches it, scores a goal, Alicia tries again to score but the Bludger hits her in the face - that must have hurt - Longbottom actually almost makes a score, Amanda Parker of Hufflepuff nearly makes a goal, she ducks from the Bludger and it hits Wood, Wood is out of the game and off to Madame Pomfrey - oh well."
Tim Burshers was the Hufflepuff seeker, and he was like a hawk.  He soared, glided, dived, and all the other things Harry use to do before he had to ride teh Velvet Landing.  Nevile was the next to go.  He tried to dive, and he kept on going down till he reached the ground in a smash.  Then the Bludger finally knocked Alicia off her broom and she had to go to the hospital wing too.  Then George's broom exploded, just like that.  One by one, the only Gryffindor left was Harry.  He repeated to himself endlessly that he just had to get the Snitch and he won.  30 minutes later, an odd thing happened.  Harry was trying to find the Snitch when he saw a see through figure, that looked much like Harry, riding a see-through broom.  The figure flew close - it looked exactly like Harry - and, to Harry's amazement, handed Harry the Snitch and disappeared.  The crowed cheered for a very long time.
Later, Harry was back in the Gryffindor tower, with all the other Gryffindors, partying.  Hermione asked him, "How did you catch it Harry?  It looked like it just appeared!"  Harry told her the truth.
"Hermione, I think a ghost handed it to me."
She was shocked.  "Do you know who's ghost it was?"  She asked.
"No."  Harry lied.  He really did know who it was.
                                            Prongs.
