Is Sexual Assault a Common Problem?
The majority of sexual assault victims are between the ages of 17 and 24.

After the age of 18, one of four women, and one of ten men will be sexually assaulted.

Out of the rapes that occur on university and college campuses, 80% are commited by someone the victim knows and 50% are commited on dates. Many of these assaults happen in the first 8 weeks of class. A study estimates tat one in four women will be assaulted during her university career.

The Canadian Panel on Violence Against Women reports that more than one half of women age 16 and overe have been sexually assaulted. For disabled women, these figures are even higher. It is indicated that 83% of women who suffer from a disability will be assaulted during her life time.
