BlueBelle Rowyn, copyright Aug. 19, 1998 Once upon a time, there was a faery named BlueBelle. BlueBelle had a cute little home at the base of a tall Maple tree. BlueBelle had a tiny toadstool table and a bed made from a walnut shell. The bed was filled with soft petals, fluffy moss and feathers. BlueBelle kept acorn cups and a small broom made out of hay in her kitchen. BlueBelle had many wildlife friends. She liked to play with Padraigin, the butterfly. BlueBelle also went for rides with Stryder, the dragonfly. Stryder let BlueBelle ride on his back and they flew all over the garden with Padraigin, chasing bees. BlueBelle liked playing with her friends, but she was sad. You see, there was a house next to BlueBelle's Maple tree, but no one lived there. BlueBelle wanted a little girl to move in so they could have tea together. One day, while BlueBelle was out gathering acorn cups, she heard a loud noise and could feel Mother Earth shaking. All of a sudden, there was a big foot that almost squished BlueBelle! The big foot belonged to a tall man who was walking through the yard of the house. BlueBelle ran and hid under a mushroom until the man left. That night, BlueBelle stayed up late with the fireflies and sang faery songs. Soon it was time to go to sleep. BlueBelle snuggled under her moss quilt in her little walnut bed. The stars twinkled up in the sky and Mother Moon cast her silvery glow. It was very peaceful and BlueBelle fell right to sleep. The next morning, BlueBelle felt the warm ray-kiss of Father Sun on her face. BlueBelle washed up in the morning dew and drank a cup of dandelion tea. BlueBelle heard a loud noise and saw that the tall man was back! BlueBelle saw the man and a woman taking big boxes into the house. They were moving in! BlueBelle was very excited. Every night the house glowed with light. One day, a little girl came out of the house and into the yard to play. The little girl saw BlueBelle by the Maple tree and introduced herself. Her name was Katie. BlueBelle and Katie soon became very good friends. Katie brought BlueBelle yummy things to eat. BlueBelle especially liked the cookies and muffins that Katie's Mom made for them. In the morning, Katie would bring BlueBelle toast with honey and she and BlueBelle would sit under the lilac bush and eat their breakfast together. BlueBelle and Katie decided to have a tea party for all of BlueBelle's friends. The day of the tea party finally came. One of the first guests to arrive was Corbie, a crow. Corbie showed Katie how to caw and took BlueBelle for a ride upon his back way up high in the sky! Next to arrive was Lady Fey, who was a faerie, like BlueBelle. Lady Fey lived in an old Oak tree and taught Katie how to make faery rings in the grass. Akushi, a snowy white owl, flew in, bringing Katie a beautiful feather from her own wing. Skye and Gwynrhia came scampering forth to meet Katie. They were the cutest pair of squirrels Katie had ever seen! They gave BlueBelle some pretty Pansy petal curtains for her home. Riversong, a young hawk, stopped in to tell them all a story. Riversong told of the things he had seen that day while flying over the wood and the town. The group nibbled on sunflower seeds while they played Sunlight/Moonlight. Have you ever played Sunlight/Moonlight? It's a little like Red Light/Green Light, if you have ever played that game. Akushi's team won and afterwards they all sat in the shade to drink lemonade. BlueBelle and Katie announced it was time to finally eat! Skye and Gwynrhia brought biscuits and jam. Akushi brought fresh strawberries from the garden. Katie brought little cupcakes decorated with sugared violets and BlueBelle served mint leaf tea that she had made that morning. After they had all eaten, they sang songs until Father Sun went to bed. They decided it was time for them to get some rest too, so everyone cleaned up and headed home. That night, as BlueBelle nestled in her little walnut bed, she could hear the crickets chirping. BlueBelle could see the glow from Katie's nightlight through her bedroom window. Mother Moon cast her silvery glow once again and the stars twinkled up in the sky. It was very peaceful and BlueBelle was very glad that she had finally found a friend. |
