Based on Muongtheng ( Thene ) history and Laichao or Laichao that Maha Ouphalad Ounekeo governed in 1835. It can be summarized that PhouNheu nhaNheu were people from the God. They arrived to the earth as the request of Phoutalok and Phoutalao grand parents to cut the big long creeper. The creeper linked from the earth to god land ( the sky ) and its leaves stood against the sun light and darken the earth. This creeper called Keua Kaokat which was grown up in the place where is called the lake of Nong Oula Hong Hai close to Tasseng SamMeuane, the village of Phoutalok whose had 29 children and Phoutalok had 20 children. Then the village become the capital of Nanchao by Kounbolom or called Laichew or Laichao in 1272.
After French conquered Vietnam in 1885. Muongtheng name was changed to Dien Bienphou 1885. The words Sibsong chouthai or Sibsong Chaotai, mean 12 areas, but the historical of Laichao called Sibsong Phouhai.
PhouNheu agreed to cut the creeper, eventhough he himself would die. He told the people to called him “ Nheu ” so all the word and expression have “ Nheu ” at the end.
