Finishing touches

I finally got around to terminating all our voice, data and cable runs in the "telecom closet".  All the wires are labeled to correspond to a map of each outlet.  The default wiring is for voice; any computer outlet will be re-punched, as needed, onto the data jumper block on the left side of the photo.  This block will be patched to a concentrator mounted below this photo.

The kitchen countertop sub-contractor finally shows up after many phone calls and much personal consternation.  Unlike the disorganized office people, the installers are knowledgeable, thorough, and professional.  A good deal of the cutting and some polishing occurs onsite.  There are two seams - which come out very nicely.

Once the countertop guys clear out, I pop in the cooktop and integrated downdraft vent.  After completing the ductwork, gas connections and electrical connections it is ready to test.  With the flip of a switch, the vent unit rises from behind the cooktop and sucks cooking vapors down through some ductwork in the crawlspace and out the west side of the house.  The photo shows the vent unit in the stored or hidden position (the 2 inch wide strip behind the cooktop).

A glass sub installs mirrors in the upstairs bathrooms and the clear glass shower enclosure in the master bath.

The house is ready for final inspections.  It has been 10 months and 3 weeks since I pulled my permit.
