Garage 2nd floor wall and roof framing
Kristina and Brian stop by to help with framing the garage 2nd floor. Kris directs while Brian and I assist.
We build the 4 foot high east and west knee walls first, then we add half the gable walls on the north and south sides.
A huge microlam beam is placed on posts hidden in the north and southn gable ends to form the ridge. All the rafters are precut and metal connectors are installed on the ridge end. A birds mouth is cut on the tail end and we let the tails run wild for trimming after they are in place.
Sub-fascia, lookouts, and the barge rafter are pretty quick work with the 3 of us working together. The roof is now ready for the roofers to add sheathing, paper and shingles.
