A massive 9 hours of flying took me from the winter of Seoul, to a sweltering summer in Fiji, my first ever destination below the equator. Unable to dig out shorts until I reached Alberts, some 6 hours after landing, I began my 2nd summer of the year sweating away my winter flab still wearing fleecey trousers, so much needed at take-off in Seoul.
Piccie 1: First glimpses of the tropical islands and coral reefs. I had a seat near the wing !!
Piccie 2: View of the "International" airport at Nadi, on a plane between the coast and the volcanic interior of Viti Levu.

Having booked the transfer to Albert's Place from the UK I hadn't realised the ruggedness of the local transport. I took a local bus into the town to pick up some Kava root, of which that transport was an experience in itself.
Piccie 1: Me clutching my Kava root, a present for Albert, in front of the rickety 8 seater plane.
Piccie 2: The south shore and reef of Viti Levu, the largest island of Fiji, as our plane climbed and dove in the abruptness of the tropical air streams.
Piccie 3: Fly by view of the lushcious Kadavu coast, as we raced over bum-numbing, back-breaking waves in Micheal's boat.

With the Kava root which I presented to Albert, the family shared the process of making Kava and we drank it together.
Piccie 1: Philip pounding the Kava root, with Mackenzie, Albert (in the chair), Rupert and Alicia watching on.
Piccie 2: Bruce and Mackenzie watching David pausing from mixing the crushed Kava with water.
Piccie 3: Ramona, having already drunk plenty (look at the smile), mixing the Kava further, whilst Albert merrily plays a mellow tune. Mackenzie breaks from cheating at Uno, to gulp down the good stuff.
