Queen Charlotte Sound
As the ferry gradually approached the head of the Queen Charlotte Sound, Picton slowly came into sight through the misty sea air.
From the top of the headland to the east, Queen Charlotte Sound seems more inviting on a sunny day.

Views of Picton
The old little town of Picton, quite picturesque when the industrial port is out of site. An old Scow called the Echo rests in this harbour as a unique museum, its already been sunk twice. Beyond this is the coat-hangar bridge, high enough for yachts to sail under.

Train from Picton
From the windy open-air carriage of the train, these beaches are touchable on the east coast of the South Island. Stretches of the beach are strewn with seals. The main road southwards, the M1 equivalent, runs between the railway line and the beach. A huge road isn't it !?!
