The Ancient King Has Said to Me

Itsuka Yamasaki

"Rejoice, young man, in thy youth… remove sorrow from thy heart… for childhood and youth are vanity" — Solomon

I see people walking in depression,

The news of the world is coloured with sorrow,

They do not know the place of tomorrow,

It puts my heart to a bottomless dejection.

But the Ancient King has said to me,

"Weep no more and be joyous,

Leap with bliss, for the youth is glorious,

Strive for those your eyes can see."

The Ancient King with full of lore,

I am still so young and naïve,

Enlighten me on how to live,

Then my soul will start to soar.

Now my palms are toward the heaven,

Lifting my spirit up from morning to night,

Singing loud to praise the Light,

And I will lie in a perfect haven.

Forth your wisdom I shall call,

For the Ancient King is deep in thought,

Great and profound is what you have sought,

May your name thrive for good and all.
