The symbol of the Foundation

-its origins and meanings.
As with all things from which this Order
has been developed, our symbols were provided
by what persons of the world would call spiritual
revelation. The fact is that the name was
given through meditation and revealed to
many persons doing the meditation, as the
only name upon which this order could be
established. Every one who entered into meditation
came up with the same information, and in
fact could not be persuaded to change it
when questioned. God would not change her
mind in the least once she had spoken. I
say this in humor, but there is a mystical
reality to the feminine aspect of God which
the churches have failed to understand. The
fact is that I told the members to do the
meditation, and when the name came up, and
they wanted to me to hold the title of Spiritual
Director of the Order of Melchizedek, I did
my best to convince them to use another name
because I felt that it was a title beyond
human expression and could not be filled
by a mortal human being. I asked them to
meditate seeking another name, because I
did not want that title. They did, and came
back more convinced than ever to use the
name they were given, and I had to relent
to their wishes, because I was the one who
asked them to meditate on it in the first
place.
Moving forward to when the Order was becoming
an official Not for Profit organization in
Niles Illinois, and classes and Sunday Communion
services were being attended. It was during
the communion services when and where the
symbols first began to appear. The women
and men attending not only began to see visitations
of Mary and Jesus, feeling their presence,
but told me of the symbols that they were
shown, in discussions after the services
had been held. The man attending (a brother
Master Mason) told me of the cross of the
Knights of Malta that appeared in purple,
and drew a picture of it for me. The women
had repeated experiences of seeing either
a Gold or Blue star of David, and also told
me they were seeing a Blue unfolding rose.
These symbols were later envisioned as interlacing
one another, as a composite of the three,
and were accepted as the symbol of the Order
in its begining stages.
The history of the Cross of the Knights of
Malta had been described in detail while
being initiated into the degrees of the York
Rite of Freemasonry while working my way
to the 32nd degree, and prior to becoming
a 32nd degree Master Mason in the Scottish
Site. Having been sworn under oath not to
reveal the secrets of the lodge, I am not
a liberty to discuss that information presently,
but it may easily be found in libraries or
one other web sites. The history of the use
of that particular cross as a symbol came
after a great display of courage while the
temple of the Knights of Malta was under
siege, and if memory serves me correctly
it was not only the Knights themselves but
the members of the stone mason craft who
fought beside the knights, using the tools
of their trade in hand to hand combat with
the enemies who were attacking. They were
able to rally and fend off the attackers
and preserve their lives and freedom, and
the fortress they had built driving the attackers
off the Island. The color purple is one of
the royal colors depicting high spiritual
contact, and the color of the 9th sphere
in the symbol of the tree of life from the
Qabalah. The Song of Solomon refers to a
chariot he made himself, '"He covering
of it of purple, the midst thereof being
paved with love, for the daughter's of Jerusalem."
When Jesus was being mocked and scourged,
the centurions they clothed him in purple
robe and placed a crown of thorns upon his
head to hail him as king of the Jews.
The Star of David or Seal of Solomon is also
relative to the tribe of Judah from whom
David, Solomon, and Jesus shared the blood
line as the masculine aspect of the Priesthood
of Melchizedek and lion hearted men of the
tribe of Judah." The scepter shall not
depart the nor a law giver from between thy
paws till ShiLoh come, and unto thee Judah
shall the gathering of the people be. (In
the last days, which are now.) The star forms
two triangles, as above so below, and has
been used as a symbol for the law of prayer.
What is conceived in mind and heart in the
ascending triangle, descends into matter
as the answered prayer, taking the form set
in the unseen and reproducing it as the seen
manifested in the physical world.
The blue unfolding Rose is something that
has never been able to become manifest in
nature. It is found in the ancient Hebrew
traditions as a the highest aspect of the
mother, or feminine principal. Having been
trained the Rosicrucian (rose Cross) traditions
where the red unfolding rose is set at the
center of the cross we have a slightly different
aspect of what the unfolding rose signifies
because red is a color of activity, passion
and blood, but the blue is of the aspect
of the divine mother of the heavens. Mary
is often pictured as cloaked in blue with
a white garment beneath. The Light blue color
is the feminine aspect of God, whereas the
deep blue is the masculine aspect. Some things
just come to us out of the blue, and we don't
know why, but they are always inspirational
and inventive. We have herein depicted at
the very center of our symbols the unfoldment
of the inner feminine aspect of the heavens.
We cannot possibly provide all of the meanings
of the symbols, but meditation upon them
places one in the frame of mind from whence
the meanings came, as written into existence
by the grand designer and architect of the
universe.
