Biography:
Kadar was born into the Calishite noble family of Saffar. His father, Shyk Hassan yn Jaffar el Saffar, a large jovial man, is commander of the elite guard that protects the Syl-Pasha's palace as well as the embassies in the Taorahl drudach. From an early age he was taught the ways of the royalty, all the social niceties and morays of the elites. He was raised in the tradition of the deity Siamorphe, that nobility has a divine right to rule over the unenlightened. But it seemed Besheba, not Siamorphe was to be the true shaper of his destiny.
Kadar's abilities began to manifest themselves right before hitting puberty. At first some of the strange occurrences around the teenager could be attributed to simple bad luck; but, it was soon apparent that through the weave, Kadar was able to manipulate probability itself. He received more military and combat training than most noble children received, often sparing with some of his father's lieutenants. His talents with the scimitar and the katar were unmatched among all but the most masterful swordsmen in Calimport. What Kadar sometimes lacked in finesse, he made up for with sheer arcane ability. Channeling his power, he would more often debilitate his foes before he even struck them once. With combat skills far in excess of almost any of the viziers and shyk's (who were more known for their expansive waistlines than their fighting), on his sixteenth birthday he was viewed as one of the most promising young nobles in the city.
In an arranged marriage (set up by his father) he married Symari yr Ralan el Pesarkhal, an attractive young woman who was a close cousin to the Syl-Pasha himself. Although this marriage would not put Kadar in direct line to ascend the throne, it would put him in a much better position if an opportunity ever arose. Further boosting his ascent along his path to political success, he was appointed head of the Taorahl drudach on his eighteenth birthday. While the position was often viewed as nothing more than a posh caretakers post, it still put him in an excellent position to know what was going on among the Syl-Pasha's inner circle (while being far enough removed to engage in his own machinations).
While the luxury he enjoyed was more than most Calishites ever come close to in their entire lives, it was nothing compared to the palaces of some of the Syl-Pasha's advisors and generals. But more than luxury, Kadar desired power. The regions under Calishite control were nowhere close to the power they used to posses, especially before the Time of Troubles. He often felt his country had turned into nothing but a tourist attraction. A thousand monuments to glory, but nothing more than a memory. The contempt he often encountered from many visiting nobles and aristocrats (especially the self righteous Cormyrians), drove him to decide that he would reclaim glory for Calimshan, even if it meant going against the Syl-Pasha himself.
It was these same traveling foreigners that finally led him to understand what he was. One day a bodyguard of a visiting trader from Baldur's Gate killed a would be pick-pocket...but when he did...he exercised powers that Kadar though only he himself possessed. Upon later questioning, the man explained that he was known as a Hexblade. And that while Hexblades were rare in the realms, their power was not to be underestimated. It was through this contact that Kadar also learned of the riches and glory that could be achieved by adventuring out into the realms. And even though "adventuring" was looked down upon as a commoner's calling. But the seed had been planted, and his wanderlust only grew. During his stay, the adventurer taught Kadar to further hone his skills, and use his mastery of the weave to avoid danger and curse his enemies.
Soon after the adventurers departure, Kadar's father approached him explaining that one of his soldiers was beginning to exhibit similar talents as Kadar. Upon hearing this, Kadar took it to begin training the solider to be as skilled as he was. After several months of training, the young man, named Hamar el Taorahl (a merchant's son of un-notable birth) soon became one of Kadar's closest trusted aids.
Finally one day Kadar heard a rumor that the Syl-Pasha was looking to expand militarily into Tethyr. This, he felt, gave him the perfect opportunity to leave the city and earn his fortune and glory out in the Realms. He figured that he did not have the influence to convince the Syl-Pasha, nor did he have the support or power to rival the Syl-Pasha if he attempted a coup. Under the guise of gathering information for the Syl-Pasha, he would being adventuring around the realms. So, through adventuring he planned to amass wealth and followers, which would be independent of the influence and control of the Syl-Pasha. With this army he could conquer the regions which the Syl-Pasha did not have the stomach himself. And either he would return to the city a victorious hero, or he would return and seize power himself. Either way, he would have the power to return Calimshan to glory.
So with the permission of his father, he set off towards the region of Erlkazar. He had heard through passing travelers that the region existed in virtual anarchy, a perfect starting location. Leaving the drudach in control of Hamar, he set off with his magic carpet and supplies.
Upon arriving in Milbourne, he joined a rather motley crew of commoners and sylvan types. Through numerous adventures and combats though, he began to realize the value of his companions in arms. He also was able to channel his arcane might into creating a magical animal familiar, though something must have gone awry during the spell, as his new parrot, Melek, seemed to be completely and totally gay. But that aside, his traveling companions appear to be worthwhile resources which may be valuable to him in the future.
