The things I like, and why you should, too. |
I'll fill in more stuff later, as it comes to me, but for now, I at least want to get this section started by saying.
Geez, I loved this band. I don't even know where to begin. Officially the band consists of Tina Root and Susan Wallace, but there are always a couple more people invovled. The other people, of course, are subject to change, but are currently stabilized as Eric Gebow on drums, and George Earth on guitar. At least last time I checked. Now Eric isn't always the one on tour either, since he's a professional drum-whore, and plays with more bands than most of us have ever met. I can't give you the definitive list, but he seems to hang with SBS whenever his schedule permits.
What makes them so great? I wish I could sum it up. They just are. Tina's sometimes operatic vocals and Susan's fairytale keyboards are just the perfect combination. When I first heard them I imagined Tina as about a 5'10", dark brunette, standard-issue goth... Then I saw them live. She's like a cheerleader from Transylvania. She comes up to the middle of my chest, and had these poofy green ponytails like rancid cotton candy, and a makeup style lifted straight from H.R. Pufinstuf's Witchie-poo. I thought, "There is no way that voice comes from that little girl", and then it did.
Oh forget it, I can't describe them, just go follow the link and listen to them yourself.
Sometimes it sucks, but sometimes it means to. In general, though, it rules. Kenny rules most of all. He just keeps coming back for more.
By an amazing coincidence they were born at the same time, thus making them TWINS. Anti-coincidentally, they look virtually nothing like me OR my wife, at least not from a distance. Both of us having darker hair, and the kids being blonde, nordic-babes gets us stared at a bit, and I wonder how many people think "Those two punks are stealing someone's children!".
If you have the means, I highly recommend getting one or two for yourself. It's an absolutely guaranteed cure for boredom.
