If you are in the habit of playing at someone else's house on occasion, as I am, then you are probably tired of splicing their settings into your configs every time you go over, right? That is why I split all of that out into the System.cfg file.
The System.cfg file should contain all of the computer-specific settings, such as controllers, resolution, gl settings, and sound volumes.
If you are using this menu system, it is now easy to take your "personal" configs with you to a friends house, and know that they will work correctly. It doesn't matter that you have a 28.8 modem, and a low-end graphics card. When you go to your cable-modem, Voodoo2-having friends house, you can just jump right in and kick some ass.
