How in the world was she going to tell Jeff?
That was the question that Linda and Ginger had been discussing for a
week now. Somehow or other the timing never seemed right to Ginger.
Linda thought she wasn't doing the right thing by putting off telling
Jeff. Anyways Jeff had to suspect something was up, in Linda's
opinion.
But she didn't know Jeff like Ginger did. She certainly didn't want
to make Jeff worry, not with the season  going on. No, Ginger
thought, she should definitely put pff telling him about the baby
until the season ended. I am little, Ginger reasoned to herself, and
it won't make much of a difference. If he knows about the baby now,
all he will do is worry himself to death, and he won't be able to
concentrate on baseball. And if he can't concentrate on baseball, how
in the world would he provide for this baby? No, she decided, it was
best for everyone if she kept this her secret. The hard part would be
getting Linda to keep quiet. She had already asked Gina not to tell
anyone until she was ready; Gina understood. But Linda, on the other
hand, was around her and Jeff too much. Ginger resolved to find a
date for Linda. Maybe that was what her friend needed. A new man in
her life would be great for her. As long as she could convince Linda
of that!

Somehow, Ginger managed to make it through the next month without
Jeff catching on to her secret. She was lucky, she hadn't even been
sick. At first, Ginger thought something was wrong, but she just
figured she was won of the lucky ones.
Linda and Ginger were discussing this at the table.
"I still can't believe you haven't told him about the baby!" Linda
wasn't thrilled with Ginger's decision, but she had to respect it.
Jeff had been on the road, so Linda thought that would give Ginger
time to rethink her decision to postpone telling Jeff.
"What baby?", Jeff asked as he unexpectedly came in the room. Ginger
thought he was at baseball practice. He was shocked.
"And don't pretend you don't know what I am talking about, because I
know what I heard. Do you mean to say that you are having a baby?",
he asked his wife nervously. Privately, he had been waiting to hear
that from Ginger.
"I didn't want to tell you like this.! I was waiting for the right
time to tell you! I didn't want to worry you,!" Ginger watched her
husband closely, waiting for his reaction.
"I love you," he whispered as he pulled her close to him. Linda
decided that this would be a good time for her to leave quietly.
"Of course, I am happy? Who wouldn't be? The most beautiful woman in
the world is having my baby,", he said tenderly as he held her
against him.
