"You couldn't have gone out with her, she just got married!" Ginger declared. That made her think though. Why would he say Sarah if he hadn't of gone out with her? "Wait a minute, the perfume you bought, don't tell me that was for her." she continued He didn't know what to say. "Of course not! It was for my mom. You can ask her." he declared in his defense. "Okay buster, if it was for her then why did you act so embarrassed when you bought it, because I distinctly remember you blushing." she should know because he looked so cute when he did that. "Look I'm telling the truth." he replied "You must think I was born yesterday! If that's the truth then we didn't have sex!" she couldn't belive she said the word. "Well you did say nothing happened between us so....." "Do you listen to everthing I say?" she screamed, cutting him off. "You get mad at me if I don't." he screamed back. "I'm mad at you either way!" with that she stormed off. She was only a block away from her house. "Ginger wait a minute." She let him catch up with her. Why did I let him catch up with me? "Tell me the truth Jeff, did you and Sarah ever go out?" (This is where a mental reservation comes in handy...) Should I tell her? No, then she would tell Hank. I couldn't let that happen. But if I say no and she finds out the truth later, she'd kill me. How embarrassing, getting killed by Ginger. He'd rather take his chances with the truth. "Sort of." "Sort of? How can you sort of go out with somebody? Did you sort of sneak behind Hank's back? You must have sort of kissed her or Lord knows what else!" she was on a roll now. Good one Metcalf. "It's not what your thinking. Hank was overseas and we were lonely..." "Overseas! That's swell Jeff, you can make time with his fiance all you want too, your lonely after all!" she said sarcastically. He grabbed her arm. "You don't have any idea how much I missed him! He's my brother and I would never do anything to hurt him. Sarah, it just happened but we put an end to it. She got married to him didn't she?" he asked. They were both tired and upset but neither of them were about to backdown. "I don't understand! You don't think I missed Charlie? I was living for every damn letter I got! But that doesn't mean I batted eyes at the nearest guy I met! You were probably thinking of her the entire time we made love." she was crying now. He saw her cry. He wanted to say something reasuring. "No I wasn't. I wasn't thinking of anything." He winced. That wasn't supposed to come out like that. That was it. There was nothing left for her to do. She slowly took off her pumps threw them at his head and took off running. "Ginger!" he called after her dodging her shoes. He wanted to go after her but he couldn't. What would he say? "What can I say to make you go out with me?" Al asked. "You can't say anything. Do you know what my kids will say if we go out? I can only imagine what Jeff is thinking right now." Actually he could imagine what he was thinking and he doubted that it had anything to do with Anne. "Sure they'll say something like. Gee what's she doing with that upstanding not to mention very handsome man. Doesn't he resemble a Jewish Robert Taylor?" he remarked, quite sure of himself. "I doubt their saying that. Besides what about Linda, she seemed quite taken with you." she asked amused. "Yeah well I knew the kid had taste, what can I say I'm irresistable." Anne laughed. "Unfortunatly your wrong though I think all she is interested in is the union. Too bad, I guess I'll have to settle for her mother." he teased. She was sunk. How could she resist that line? |
