Age Differences?

Ahhhh.... the age difference debate; the newbies and the "elite" webpage creators. I really don't see why there's such a debate going on about such a trivial thing as this, but I thought I needed to put in my opinion and try to attempt to choose a side.

Ok, I'm going to play devil's advocate and go on both sides of the fence. I'm a new webpage creator trying to get publicity. One little problem: All those stupid "elite" webpage creators are taking up the entire spotlight! I know I have felt some animosity towards other sites being bigger, better, and more popular than mine, but I don't let it get to my head. When I first started my first webpage, I'm surprised the AQ didn't find it and put it in their "Worst of the Web" catagory. It's hard being a newbie in the so-called "Sailormoon Community" (SMC). Why try and find new sites when you can always go to old-reliable that's always been there. I remember back in 1996 and maybe earlier, (sheeze, have I been around that long?) when all anyone would talk about was Hitoshi Doi's website, but now, there are other popular sites that have made it through all the trials of being in the SMC. So, for all those newbies out there, keep on trying! Publicity isn't always as nice as it seems (I'll address THAT later). Try and remember why you made the page in the first place. Oh! Is it coming to you? I know I made my page for fun. How about you?

Now, I'll try and show you what it's like to be an "elitist". I've had a Sailormoon webpage for quite awhile now and it's finally, after all my hard work and dedication, getting some major publicity. I've won some awards, gotten a lot of recognition from other "elite" sites, life is good. But what's this in my mailbox? What?! I'm not updating enough? Since when am I not updating enough! How can they presume that! They don't know anything about me! Then things turn really ugly.... Now people are critisizing Hitoshi Doi for not having enough images? Back when I had my "lil' dinosaur", I didn't even get a 14 K connection (scary, huh?), Hitoshi Doi had one of the few pages I could look at without waiting a few hours (Sorry AQ!). So now, these webmasters, who had made their pages for fun and to help spread Sailormoondom around the world, are being criticized for petty, stupid, little things that should be overlooked.

Really, this age battle has to stop. Why does everyone care so much if their pages are popular or not? Sure, it's nice, but with some of the stuff going down now in the SMC, I'm almost glad I'm not one of the most "elite" sites on the web. People are forcing these webmasters to close their pages, just to stop all the critisizing, vitriolic moonies who obviously have nothing better to do than to make complete strangers lives miserable. The SMC has made a hideous transformation. It wasn't this bad even a year or so ago. Why? That's my question to everyone out there. Why do we all hate each other over a T.V. show that's supposed to entertain and bring people together (eeek! that's a little too moralistic...). Come on guys, it's just a T.V. show! A great one at that (well, maybe the dub isn't, but the original anime is), but it's still a T.V. show.

Also, the series has ended, what do you want people to put on their pages? A bunch of crap that isn't true? What if someone isn't good at writing fanfics, drawing, or they already have all the pictures their server can hold or just can't find any more original ones out there? What do you expect them to update? My page has quickly run out of stuff to update and I'm reduced to keeping the hounds at bay by writing rants and opionated things to keep it look like I'm still alive when I'm really just a fish whose pond is slowly running out of water. Give the poor webmasters a break! Remember that line from Bambi? "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all." That doesn't mean not to send criticisms, but make them useful and intelligent sounding. For instance, I would e-mail some one WhO hAd TeXt LiKe ThIs On ThEiR pAgE. It's hard to read, ne? My eternal wish for the Sailormoon Community would be for everyone to finally atleast make some sort of agreement to end this stupid feud. All I can say for some of those people out there is; grow up. You can't have everything the way you want it so get over it! And you webmasters out there, sorry for all the negative feedback, but try and deal with it in a positive way and shrug off the petty crap like; "You're a bitch so you should take you page off the web! It suxxxxxxx!!!" This is going to take a long time to resolve, but I hope doesn't end up like a bloody online masacar.
