I am an avid reader with an active imagination and was unable to resist the temptation to continue with his work. This story is primarily written by me but with aid from Solar/Wolfbyte so forgive me if this story is rather patchy and incomplete. This also mainly an introduction for my new character and so don't be surprised if it isn't very complex. _______________________________________________________________ Chapter 9: Jason recovered quickly from the initial shock. He quickly moved into a combat formation ready for the Krell attack. Behind them he heard two doors open. He didn't need to look to tell that they both held more soldiers. "I should have expected this." he thought. The lead Krell approached him, a large fierce looking gun in his head. He was definitely older then the others as well as taller and bulkier. The giant Krell stopped in front of the three Scouts and eyed each one. "You are the Sailor Venus." he said looking at Mina. "And you are the Solar Sailor." he looked at Jason. "And this must be Tuxedo Mask." He turned and began to walk away. A quick flash in his peripheral vision caught his eye. "Troth told me about you, Tuxedo Mask. I'd keep those roses of yours under wraps or you might find yourself, well, dead." He saw the hand of the youth drop from under his cape. "You will all be held as prisoners and slaves of the Krell Republic. If you don't resist then you will not be harmed." Then the Krell turned and smiled, "That is, unless you tell me where to find the one called DarkStar." Jason, Mina, and Darien were shocked although they knew they shouldn't have been. "You don't want DarkStar. I killed Yeves not him." Jason said. "To Mral with Yeves." the Krell shouted, invoking the name of their cursed afterlife. "I want the human that killed my son. If you give him to me I'll let you go. Don't and you will be turned into my slaves. Those are your options." "Well, you won't mind if I make my own option. Sun Fireworks Erupt." Jason shouted. Burst of energy shot up from the floor in front of each of the doors, temporarily distracting the soldiers. "Quick run." The three Sailors turned and began running back along the empty hallway. Behind them they could hear the sound of dozens of Krell soldiers in pursuit. "Great. We just walked right into that." Mina commented on the run. "I know, I know. Just run. Solar Flare Ignite." The ball of fire formed in front of Jason and with a thought shot behind him, crashing into the ceiling over the soldiers heads. With a crash the ceiling collapsed, pinning three of their pursuers. "Mina, you don't happen to remember where the Krell keep shuttles or their transporters, do you?" "I think the transporters might be this way." Mina pointed down a side hall and the three heroes darted down it. "Solar Wind Gust." "Venus Crescent Beam Smash." A blast of hot air caught the leading Krell, flinging them against a far wall and the bright crescent blast smashed into the wall of the passage, knocking it into the hallway to block pursuit. "We can't keep fighting this entire ship, guys." Two Krell stepped out a door ahead of the fleeing Sailors, pointing bulky rifle-like weapons. Darien reached under his cape and, with a quick heave, threw a flight of his roses at the two beings. The two fell without a sound. "Quick, the transporters are down here." Mina pointed to a doorway to their left. The three quickly ran through the door and pulled up short. Twenty large weapons were pointed right at them. "Oops." "Nice chase." Melvik smiled from behind the front line of Krell. "You put of a decent fight but now we have you. Since you won't help me and won't be taken as slaves I have no choice but to have you executed." "You try it and I'll destroy this ship." Jason warned. "I don't think so. We've spent seven years preparing for you. You think this ship isn't proofed against your supernova attack?" Jason's shoulders slumped. "On my mark. Aim." A dozen pointers of low-level targeting lasers appeared on each of the Scouts. "This can't be it." Jason thought. "After all we've been through, we can't die like this. Raye." "Charge." A round of pings marked the charging of the weapons pointed at them. "Serena. I'll never see her again." Darien thought. "Fire!" * * * * * Melvik smiled as he watched the three humans squirm as his soldiers took aim. The female had a few small tears running down the side of her face but seemed to be holding up. "Brave creatures," he thought, "to bad they must die." He smiled as he said "Fire!" Simultaneously twenty blasts of energy lanced out of the weapons in the hands of his soldiers. They lanced through the air toward their targets but never found them. Mid-way through their flight the blasts were intercepted by a large black hole extending from wall to wall. Behind the gunners a second hole appeared from which the blasts erupted intercepting several of his troops. "What the?" Melvik cried. "Run. Back down the hall, second door on the left." Melvik heard a voice shout from behind the hole. He darted over to the side of the strange object, being sure not to touch it, and looked around the edge. "The prisoners!" He could see the running forms of the three intruders, four prisoners, and a tall man all in black. "And DarkStar!" He turned to his fighters. "Get after them!" The guards were off like a shot down a side hall, trying to get around the disc of blackness. "So close" Melvik cursed. * * * * * Lita rushed down the hallway toward the door to the Krell transport device. On her arm, she supported a weakened DarkStar. He had saved them from their cell but had only had enough energy drained from the guards' suits to create the wormhole. Ahead of her the rest of the Scouts rushed to their escape. "We're going to slow." Cameron mumbled. Lita turned toward him. "Don't worry. We'll get away." "If we keep going at this pace they'll reach us before we reach the transporter." "Not if I can help it." Lita reached around him and, with a heave, lifted him up into her arms. "Whoa. You're heavier then you look." "Sorry." Cameron smirked. "I'll be sure to go on a diet when we get home. And shouldn't I be carrying you?" "Not so long as I have a say." The others were already out of sight down the hall. Lita rushed down the hall, cradling Cameron like a child to her. "In there." Cameron pointed to a doorway on the left. Lita stopped in front of the door and let him open it. The door opened and they rushed in, locking the door behind them. Their entrance was greeted by a series of giggles, snickers, and outright laughs. "Okay. You can put me down now." But Lita didn't put him down, merely smiled. "And what if don't want too?" Cameron smiled back, "Then I'd say don't put me down. But we need to get out of here." Lita set him down but grabbed his arm before he could move anywhere, "I expect that I can do that again." "Anytime you want, Pretty Lady." Lita released his arm and he walked, weakly, over to the control console where Amy was working. "You got it figured out, Amy?" "I am not sure." Amy responded, still looking at the controls. "I think this might it but do want to take the chance I'm wrong?" "Why not? I trust your guesses more then most peoples' facts." Cameron responded. "Thanks. I'm going to try and hook it into my computer and get it figured out." "Well, hurry. The Krell will be here soon." Cameron walked over to the nearest wall and slumped against it. "I am going to need one hell of a vacation after this." "Won't we all." Cameron opened his eyes and looked up at his oldest friend. "Thanks for saving our butts back their." "Welcome." Jason slumped against the wall next to Cameron and slid down to the floor. "I don't suppose you have a little energy to spare?" Jason extended a finger and created a small fireball which quickly fizzled out. "Great." "Speaking of that, I thought you couldn't recharge in here?" Jason commented. "I can't charge from natural energy in here but an unlucky soldier happened to find me in that locker. Luckily I can drain their suits." "How did you find them?" Jason pointed out the four girls with his chin. "The soldier turned out to be very cooperative" Cameron smiled, "especially when he was wearing a drained, immobile suit working like a full body brace." "I got it" Amy shouted. She tapped a key on the control board and a bright orange beam appeared in the center of the room. "All aboard." Jason called. "Krell Earth transport will be leaving in one minute." Cameron said, "Next transport will be in, well never." The light laughter was interrupted by a load crash against the outside door. "Okay. Everyone through." Serena and Darien ran up to the orange pillar and with a quick kiss jumped through the sparkling energy, vanishing. They were followed by Mina and Amy. Jason took Raye's hand and with a smirk jumped through the column. "Just you and me, Lita." A load smash bent in part of the door. Lita smiled, "Lets go." She stepped forward taking his hand. "Just a sec." Cameron stumbled over to the control panel and typed in a few commands. "Okay. Lets hurry." He rushed over taking her wrist. Confused she asked, "What did you do?" "I think I set the controls to overload. It should overload the system anytime." They stepped up to the column. "After you." The door smashed in another several inches. "No, after you." "I don't think we have time for this. Together?" Cameron smiled. Lita took his hand and they stepped back to jump. Suddenly, the door was blown in. "Blast him!" "Jump." Lita launched into the air but not quick enough. * * * * * Doral jumped through the smashed door and charged his laser rifle. In the chamber there was only the giant orange transport pillar and two humans, a female in a green suit and a tall male all in black. Admiral Melvik stepped through the open door. "Blast him!" Melvik cried, pointing at the tall human. Doral had seen this rage before. When Melvik got in this kind of mood it was never a good idea not to do what he wanted. One could end up dead. Doral raised his rifle and sighted along the stalk at the humans but hesitated. The male had spared him. Doral had found the human earlier shut up in a locker. In his surprise he had let the human drain his suit and lock him up. The human had had him completely at his mercy but had not killed him as Doral or any good soldier would have done. "Your failing, human, but I am sorry." despite his words he couldn't shoot the man in black. He swung the gun toward the female. "I can always say I missed." Doral pulled the trigger releasing the burst of energy. At the same time the control panel next to him erupted in a torrent of flame, rending Doral asunder. * * * * * Cameron turned at the sound of the command to shoot. A single Krell was raising his weapon and was aiming it at Lita. "Why her?" he thought. Cameron raised his arm toward the soldier, "Dark Energy Blast." he whispered. Nothing happened. "No." he thought. The Krell pulled the trigger. A bright bolt of energy pulsed out of the barrel. "NO!" Cameron shouted. He lunged, trying to get between Lita and the blast. He closed his eyes hoping there would be no pain. There was. The blast slammed into Cameron's chest knocking the wind from his lungs. He felt the blast tearing open his body. As his sight went dark he was able to whisper one word, "Lita." ______________________________________________________________________ Willing to give his life to save hers, now that is touching. How many people do you know would do that? How about Melvik's little trap in the prisoner rooms? Good or bad idea? Sorry if this chapter seems a little shorter then the rest but I just had to split it apart from the next section for suspense. You will understand why. What do you think of the story so far? I would love to get some criticism on it so I'll know what to do next. I thank Lady Jupiter for her positive criticism but I would like others to send some so I can work the story to everybodys' enjoyment. StromDakth@aol.com in case they didn't put it up.
