Boomerang groaned and slowly opened his eyes, finding himself staring at the ceiling of a building. He started to sit up, but a sharp pain in his side stopped him. "Whoa! Settle down!" came a man's voice. Boomerang turned his head to his left to see who was with him.
Despite his hazed vision, Boomerang could tell that it was an old man, around the age of sixty. Beside him stood Lucied who practically had her whole head inside a bucket. An old woman, not much younger than the man, then walked into the room. She looked at Lucied and laughed, "Well. She has a healthy appetite."
"The poor thing probably hasn't eaten in a while," the man suggested. He then turned to Boomerang and said, "How do you feel?"
"Awful..." the demon managed to say. Boomerang then gasped, halfway from the pain in his ribcage, and halfway from realizing that his helmet was gone. He quickly looked around, seeing his helmet on a table right beside the bed that he was lying in. He sighed. It did not matter if he had his helmet or not. He looked exactly like a human which was probably why these people were taking care of him. That was the one thing he liked about his appearance: he could walk among humans without being noticed.
Sitting up, more carefully this time, Boomerang slowly got out of the bed and put his helmet back on. The old man seemed slightly surprised, for he asked, "How can you walk around like that? You were really hurting!"
"I'm...a fast healer..." Boomerang replied weakly.
"I've never known anyone who was that fast a healer!" the woman stated. Boomerang's hand felt his broken ribs which were once again bandaged up.
The old man explained, "That goblin didn't exactly hit those broken ribs. But he came mighty close to it. He hit you just below the already broken ones." So that was why Boomerang was not hurting as much as he had expected.
"Um...thanks for your troubles," Boomerang said, not wanting to be rude for some reason. "Lucied, come." However, when the Guardian of Desire did not come, Boomerang looked at her and could not help but laugh. Lucied had gotten so involved in her meal that she had gotten her head stuck in the bucket. After helping the blue wolf out of the bucket, the duo walked down the stairs and exitted the house. Boomerang froze in his tracks as he saw six people rush toward him. Six people who were all too familiar.
Boomerang felt his back for one of his namesakes. His eyes widened and he looked over his shoulder, shrieking, "AAAACK! Where'd they go?!?!" Lucied bared her fangs and growled. The Dream Chasers, Zed, Noble Knight, and Seph stopped in their tracks. Both Noble Knight and Zed placed their hands on the hilts of their swords, but they did not unsheath them.
Suddenly, Dan Diaram appeared between the two opposing forces and said to Boomerang, "Don't make me lock you up, again. Now, will you either come with us willingly, or will I have to make you come?" Boomerang's eyes narrowed under the black visor that once again hid his face. "Hmm?!" Dan Diaram asked, growing impatient.
"Lucied, stand down," the demon commanded, feeling too weak to put up with the Guardian of Time and the Dream Chasers together.
"A wise decision." Dan Diaram turned to the Dream Chasers and stated, "Let's go back to the forest. We'll tell him what's going on when we get there."
Boomerang folded his hands together and placed them behind his head as he leaned against a tree. "So...what did you want to tell me?" he yawned as everyone else sat down on the grass of the forest, "And make it quick...I'm burning daylight. If I hadn't blacked out, I probably would have been halfway to Milama by now." Noble Knight yawned, sat down, and leaned her left shoulder against the same tree that Boomerang was standing beside.
Dan Diaram explained about the demons that returned and started to tell Boomerang about the three new demons when he suddenly yelled, slapping his forhead, "DAMN!! They must have followed me!!"
"Followed you from where?" Cecilia found herself asking.
"When I returned to Filgaia..."
"Um...anyway..." Dan Diaram continued, "There are also three new demons that we have to deal with. We don't know what they look like or what their names are, though."
"So...that gets us nowhere!" Boomerang growled.
"But!" Rudy spoke, "Will you help us. Dan Diaram told us that you were trying to reform." Boomerang winced, not from the pain in his side, but from the fact that they knew that he was trying to change.
Boomerang pushed himself from the tree, cracked his knuckles, and said, trying not to sound as if he cared what they were doing, "What the hell...At least it'll give me a good reason to break something." He then muttered under his breath, not realizing that Noble Knight could hear him, "Preferably Zed's neck when this is all over." It took all of Noble Knight's willpower to prevent herself from laughing.
Boomerang was the only one who knew the real reason why he had agreed to help them. He wanted revenge. It was Zeikfried who had killed him the first time. It was Zeikfried who had betrayed him. No further use for me, my ass!! Boomerang thought, yawning again.
Cecilia stood up and said to everyone, "Well, let's go ahead and head for Milama. The sooner we get moving, the sooner this ordeal will be over!"
Noble Knight grinned and spoke, "And, the sooner we get to Milama, the sooner we can EAT!!!!"
Elmina pointed out, "You just ate before we left Adlehyde."
Noble Knight retorted, "I have a VERY large appetite! If you've got a problem with that--" She was cut off as her stomach growled. "See?"
Jack got out his lighter and stated, "Come on! We want to get through the Mountain Pass as soon as possible--" He cut himself off when he saw Boomerang looking through the bushes by the trees of the forest. "Uh...what are you doing?"
Boomerang answered impatiently, "What do you think I'm doing?! One of my weapons was broken, but my other one is still around here somewhere. Now where could that damn thing be?"
Rudy dug through his backpack, looking for the item that the Dream Chasers had recieved back when they defeated Boomerang at Ka Dingel. Finally, his hand clasped around the item. "Um...Boomerang?" he asked, "Will this thing do for now?" He tossed the item to Boomerang who grinned under his visor.
"Yep! I won't be able to use my stronger attacks, but this will do," he replied as he looked over his most powerful weapon.
The Sabre Fang.
He strapped the Sabre Fang to his back and said simply, "Let's go."
"OW!!" Noble Knight shrieked as she ran face first into a boulder.
"What happened?!" she heard Cecilia yell.
"YEOW!!" came Zed's voice.
"AAAAUGH!!!!" Elmina screamed.
"OH, SHUT UP!!" Boomerang shouted.
"Turn on the lights!!" Rudy commanded. In response, everyone saw Jack's lighter flare to life, but the cavern did not lighten up.
"There's no lantern near by," Jack stated. Noble Knight chanted, "Flame of light which burns so bright, into my hands gather your light." A small sphere of light, about the size of a baseball, formed in her hands and flew upwards, illuminating the cavern.
Jack, Rudy, and Cecilia burst out laughing when they saw the chaos that had ensued in the cave. Noble Knight was still rubbing her sore nose, Zed was trying to push a boulder off of his foot, Seph had gotten tangled in a group of vines and was desperately trying to get out, Lucied was rolling around in a puddle of water, acting as if she was a puppy again, and Elmina had gotten the back of her shirt caught on a stalactite. How was anyone's guess.
Boomerang was tapping his foot on the ground, impatiently. He asked as Zed finally managed to get the boulder off of his foot, "Are you five done making fools out of yourselves?"
"Oh, shove it!" Zed growled, rubbing his throbbing foot.
Boomerang balled his hand into a fist and asked, "Where do you want it?!"
"SHUT UP, BOTH OF YOU!!" Elmina screamed as Jack helped her down.
"Let's go..." Noble Knight groaned, using her sword to cut Seph loose of the vines, "All of this is making me even hungrier!"
"Hmm...this may be easier than I thought..." he said with a sinister smile as the Dream Chasers, Noble Knight, Zed, Boomerang, and Seph exitted the Mountain Pass and started toward Milama.
"But remember! We aren't supposed to attack them until tonight!" his ‘sister' pointed out.
"Damn...oh c'mon! Let's have some fun!!" he begged.
"NO! We wait until it's dark." He growled and walked away. She looked at their comrade who had not said much since he was ‘born'. "You still upset about that?!" Her ‘brother' was silent. She shrugged. "Oh well...let's go get ready. It's gonna be a BUSY night tonight!" The three of them then burst into a fit of evil laughter.
