Through the De La Metalica

Epilogue

Dex, Ultima, Ashley, and Rising Sun accompanied Zed, Boomerang, Alicia, and Noble Knight back to the warp in the woods. Naturally, Ashley was quiet for most of the trip while Rising Sun, Dex, and Ultima shared a nice conversation with Boomerang, Noble Knight, and Zed.

Once they reached the warp, the Fargaian Dream Chasers said their final "goodbyes" and turned to head back toward Ardlehyde. Boomerang turned to his friends and stated, "Remember to hold your breath when you enter the warp since you'll end up underwater." The others nodded. They started to enter the warp, but stopped when a sound caught their attention. The four of them turned around to look at the Fargaian Dream Chasers who were quite a ways away by now. The sound that had grabbed the Filgaian Dream Chasers' attention had been singing.

Dex sang, "Yes we beat those blasted monsters!"

Ultima added, "And we clipped Choraan's wings!"

Ashley sang, "Now we're on our way back home and,"

Rising Sun finished, "This is what we're gonna sing!"

Then, all four of them sang together, "Dream Chasers band together, fighting for what's right! And Choraan will never beat us, 'cuz we'll smash him every time!!" Their last line ended in a fit of laughter. The Filgaian Dream Chasers exchanged a glance and then entered the warp.

Noble Knight squeezed the water out of her knee-length hair and flipped her tail back and forth to get rid of some of the water on it. Boomerang let out a shrill whistle. A few minutes later, Spike and Knightmare trotted toward them. Zed spoke, "We'll take two to a horse."

Noble Knight nodded and said, "Yeah. You and Alicia take Spike. I'll ride with Boomerang on Knightmare." As the green- haired swordsman and the girl mounted her horse, Noble Knight looked at Boomerang and laughed, "Just think...we did all of this work on what was supposed to be our Christmas break!"

Boomerang suddenly said, retrieving something from his backpack, "Oh! That reminds me!" He handed Noble Knight something that was wrapped up in two pieces of cloth. "Merry Christmas."

Noble Knight looked at him, puzzled, and then began removing the cloth while Boomerang adjusted Knightmare's saddle. She gasped when she saw what was in the cloth. It was a statuette of a wolf made entirely out of jade with rubies for the eyes. Actually, the statuette looked more like Seph than a regular wolf.

Noble Knight walked to Boomerang and said, "But I don't have a gift for you."

Boomerang lay a hand on her shoulder and said, "Noble Knight, you are a gift to me." Before she could reply, Boomerang mounted Knightmare and helped her up behind him. With that, the four Dream Chasers happily rode back to Adlehyde, glad to be back home.

Noble Knight asked him, "Why'd you give this to me early? It's only Christmas Eve."

Boomerang replied, easing Knightmare into a slow canter, "I couldn't wait."

As they rode, Noble Knight said to Boomerang, "I have to give you something in return!"

Boomerang was silent for a moment before he finally said, "There is one thing...but you can't give it to me..."

Noble Knight retorted with a grin, "I'll bet I can! What is it?"

"Ever since Hiades was destroyed long ago, I've never been through a winter that had snow again. I kinda miss it."

Noble Knight thought for a minute and grinned. She had an idea.

Zed and Matt shrieked as Boomerang snowballed them again. Overnight, snow had blanketed Adlehyde and was still falling gently. Noble Knight and Cecilia looked over the balcony and down at the boys. The girls then looked at each other and high- fived each other. Noble Knight looked to the sky and said, "Thanks, Aru Sulato."

"My pleasure!" the Snow Guardian replied with a laugh.

Noble Knight called down to Boomerang, "Merry Christmas!"

Boomerang called up to her, "I don't know how you did it, but thanks!!" He then went back to pummelling Matt and Zed with snowballs.

Noble Knight yelled, making her way back into the castle to join the boys in the courtyard, "Hey!! Save some of those snowballs for me!!"

He stumbled onward past a lake not far from the village of Milama. At this rate, he figured, it would take him another three years to reach his goal, but the wait would be worth it. His plan was forming, and he could stay alive that long because of the object that he had stolen from those cursed Dream Chasers two years ago.

The ebony black sword on his back glinted almost with anxiety. The sword itself seemed to be eager to play out its part in his plan. He spoke with an evil laugh, "Don't worry...you'll...be brought back...in...due time...in due time....."
