Our Responsibilities
1) All Karnak stallions offer a Live Foal Guarantee. This guarantees that if the breeding fails to produce a foal that lives beyond 72 hours, the mare owner may either breed the same mare to the same stallion again or receive a refund of the stud fee.
2) Certain Karnak stallions offer a Color Guarantee in addition to the LFG. This guarantees that any foal sired by this stallion will be either parti-colored (tobiano, overo, etc.) or of a recognized non-base color (e.g. buckskin, dun, palomino, etc.). At the moment, Painted Brim is the only stallion standing at Karnak with a LCFG.
3) At the moment, we do not require a booking fee when requesting a breeding to our stallions. This may be different in the future. We reserve the right to change this clause at our discretion.
The Mare Owner's Responsibilities
1) Any mare to be considered for breeding to a Karnak stud must have up-to-date veterinary and farrier records - including, but not limited to: general exam, all necessary vaccinations, and a negative Coggins Test.
2) We reserve the right to refuse breeding to any mare that we do not deem up to our standards.
3) At the moment, we do not require that foals sired by our stallions carry the "Karnak" prefix. This may be different in the future. We reserve the right to change this clause at our discretion.
4) We must be informed of the foal's name and statistics so that we can keep our records updated. We must also be informed if you choose to age or geld the foal.
5) The foal must be kept up-to-date with your veterinarian and farrier. We require monthly updates on the foal's condition to ensure that this agreement is being kept.
6) We reserve buybacks to any foal sired by one of our stallions. If at any time you choose to sell the foal, we reserve the right to purchase it back from you at your stated asking price. We also request that you inform us of who the foal is sold to so that we can keep track of where it goes.
7) If any of the conditions of this contract are not met, we reserve the right to immediately claim the foal back from you without compensation.
