Part 3
"Ryan?"
"Yes Vic, it’s me. Everything’s all right. Jake is going for help."
"Jake?"
"Yeah, you know Jake. Tall, stubborn, your best friend."
Vicky stared up at Ryan’s shining blue eyes, and then everything went black. When she regained consciousness, she found herself in BCH with Morgan checking her stats and Ryan by her side.
"Ryan, I’m sorry. I’m so so sorry."
"For what Vic?"
"The fight."
"Fight? What fight? Did I miss something here?"
"You know, the fight we had today."
"Vicky, the only thing we’ve fought about is whether we’ve fought or not."
"Ryan, promise me you won’t leave, that you’ll stay right here with me no matter what."
"Okay. I promise Vicky. I’ll stay."
As Vicky drifted back to sleep, she saw a train trestle and Ryan with a gun pointed at him. As soon as the gun went off, Vicky woke up. She awakened to find Carl standing by her side.
"Ryan, where’s Ryan?!"
"He got a lead on Kirk and Justine so he left. He asked me to stay with you."
"No! He couldn’t of left, he promised! We have to leave. We have to go!"
"What the devil are talking about Victoria?"
"Carl you, you don’t understand. Ryan and Kirk are in danger. We have to go Carl, now!"
"Go where?"
"The train trestle!"
"Vicky, calm down. I think you’re overreacting."
"No. No. NO I am not. I am going to save Ryan whether you want to go or not!" And with that she left with Carl following close behind.
When Vicky arrived at the trestle, she found Kirk in a car seat. The she looked up and saw Grant pointing a gun at Ryan. Vicky screamed and Ryan turned around and saw Grant too. Ryan was shocked; he didn’t know what to do. Then everyone heard a shot.
"Oh God, I’m too late," Vicky whispered. She silently waited for Ryan to fall, but he didn’t. Instead, it was Grant’s body that came crashing to the ground. Everyone turned in shock to see Carl standing on the trestle, holding a gun.
"Well, what’s everyone staring at? I always was a good shot."
The paramedics arrived on the scene within moments to tend to the wounded Grant.
"Damn," muttered Carl as they loaded the former senator into the ambulance, "the bastard's still breathing."
"Dad."
Carl turned around to see Ryan standing between Rachel and Justine.
"Yes son?"
"I need to now which one of these is my mother."
Carl looked at the two women intently. "Well my boy, after all you’ve learned about your mother, I believe you should be able to tell the two apart."
Though he was surprised, Ryan did as his father suggested. Taking his time, he looked both women over. As he finished his examination, he turned to the first woman and gazed deep into her eyes.
"Rachel is a kind and loving woman. You can see it in her eyes. You mother are neither of those things. Guys, take this woman away."
Four years later found Ryan and Vicky happily married and ready to make Carl a grandfather. It was Christmas Eve and everyone was at the Cory mansion celebrating Ryan’s birthday. Kirkland and Steven were playing upstairs while Ryan, Carl, Rachel, Matt, Amanda and Jake were waiting in the living room. As Vicky entered with the cake, Carl moved quickly so she could sit beside Ryan. As they sang Happy Birthday, Vicky looked at Ryan.
"Honey, it’s time."
"What did you say Vic?"
"Ryan, it’s time. The baby is coming."
"The baby? OUR baby? It’s time for our baby!" Everyone stopped singing as Ryan leaped up. "Okay, it’s time. Stay calm! Okay. Omigod! What do I do? Where do I go? The hospital. We have to go to the hospital."
"We don’t have enough time because it’s coming now Ryan!"
"NOW? Right now? Well tell it to wait!"
"Son, I don’t think it works that way."
