Winter Handicap 2003

The starting line for this years race was missing a few cold and flu victims, but it was welcome back to Terry Lyons and Malcolm Cliffe. The last time Terry ran this event he went the wrong way, and Malcolm must have seeked his advice, because he did this year.

The start

After this race Graham Sykes hands over the responsibility of club handicaper to one of his more vocal critics of the last few years, Barry Tyas. A look at the results below shows Graham did not waste his chance to "stitch Benny up" one last time. Benny was last seen with a strange grin on his face, muttering "it's payback time Sykes". I fear your chances of winning anything for a while are slim Graham.

Ray, Rachel and Graham

Congratulations to Andy Austwick for fastest time of the day, and well done to Chris Oldfield for a great run to finish 4th in the handicap, and 4th fastest time overall. Last years winner Robin Fieldhouse improved his time, but was handicapped well out of it this year.

Thanks for your efforts as handicapper Graham, a job well done (as today's times prove) . Now the pressure, bribes and abuse are heading Benny's way. So roll on next year, and I'd like to say, I think you'll do a great job Benny and the £5 is in the post.
