One day, two sisters were at school playing on the playground, one of them was deaf. After they left the playground, they went to look for some deer. The little sister looked for movement in the grass. When they got home, Mom and the big sister taught the deaf sister how to say some words. The little sister and the big sister went to bed and the deaf sister was crying because there was a thunderstorm and there was no light in the hallway. So the big sister came in and lay down with her. I liked reading this story because I have a sister who is deaf. My sister can only hear a little bit but if you are far away she can’t hear you. |

Title: Goody New ShoesBy: Harriet Ziefert Setting: I think this story took place at a mall because in the story they went shopping. This story is all about a family of pigs that go shopping while their mother takes a rest. Dad said, “I will take you to the store.” “Yippee!” said P. J. First they went to the barbershop. Next they went to a clothing store and then to a shoe store. P. J. bought blue shoes. Penny got purple shoes. Next, they went to the balloon store and got balloons. P. J.’s balloon flew away so they went back to the store and got a book. I liked this story because I like to go shopping too. Reading this book reminded me of when I went to the store. I didn’t get my hair cut but I did get new cloths and shoes. |

Title: The Biggest BearBy Lynn WardSetting: This story took place on Johnny Orchard’s farm.
|
This story is about a boy named Johnny Orchard who lived on a farm. Johnny found a mother bear and her cub. The mother bear was protecting her cub. Johnny was scared. The cub ran up to Johnny who gave the cub some maple sugar. Johnny brought the cub home. Johnny’s father gave him some more maple sugar. The cub grew and grew and grew until the cub was no longer a cub. It was a bear. It was time for it to live on its own. I liked this book because the bear was always helping Johnny find his way home. |
