MENADUE MODELS
MODEL AIRCRAFT-
I have a large collection of plastic construction kits covering the many aircraft the Royal Australian Navy Fleet Air Arm has worked with over the many years, including pre official formation. The Fleet Air Arm 's experience with aircraft goes back to pre World war One days with the Sopwith Camel. Much has been written about these connections. As an ex Aircraft Radio Technician, who worked on Skyhawk and Macchi aircraft in the RAN, I developed a strong desire to model the history.
I have collected most of what I need, with only a couple to be reckoned with. The preferred scale is 1/72, although I have catered for other scales, in order to have a kit of the particular aircraft.
I have previously modeled aircraft for the RAAF and these were located at Support Group one in St Kilda Road in Melbourne. These models included:
Lockheed P-3B Orion
Lockheed C-130H Hercules.
All are in 1/72 scale and mounted on teak bases.
Additionally, I have donated to the RAAF Museum, Point Cook, two models, being (in 1/72 scale) :
Both models were scratch built.
I have donated to the Bowen Historical Society and Museum, four P5Y Catalina models replicas of aircraft which passed through Bowen during World War Two.
I was an senior designer of the Bowen Catalina and Coral Sea Memorial Museum located at the Bowen Airport. This reflects upon the service done by the Catalinas and Bowen and the historic Battle of the Coral Sea.
