Well I
have a couple of stories for you!! You know the guys were in NY
for the parade, right! Well here is what
happenned! I have an online friend(RHONDA) in
Kansas(Menudo fan) who I sent a picture of myself to. Another
online/Menudo fan friend (KRIS), who lives close to Rhonda asked
her to lend her the picture so that she could show it to two
other online Menudo friends (Leslie and Laureen) in NY.
Well, while in NY, Kris, Leslie, and Laureen got to hang out with
the guys!! They told Miguel I was his number one fan and showed
him the picture. Supposedly he was throwing kisses at it! (LOL)
Well, my pals asked Miguel to pose holding up my picture so they
could send it to me and he said ok, sure! Well, after the picture
was taken my friends asked for the picture to give it back to
Rhonda in Kansas, BUT Miguel said he wasn't going to do that
because he wanted to keep it, SO HE KEPT IT!!! HE HAS MY
PICTURE!!!!! AHHHHHHH WHAT DO YOU THNK ABOUT THAT!!!
And the second story is that another online friend from NY
(Marisa) got me an autograph!!!!!!!!!!!!! It says
"A Zory, Lots of Love, Miguel '98"
Unbelievable right!!!!???? She also took some pictures for me
that same day!
All this has happenned in the past 3 days!! It's crazy, BUT
WONDERFUL!!!!!
My Phone Conversation With
Miguel
July 2,
1998--New York City
9:00AM-- LIVE! With Regis and Kathy Lee
11:26AM--Happy B-day call to Zory from MIGUEL!!
Conversation was in Spanish (I am translating).
Duration: about 10 minutes.
Call made from Marisa’s cell phone
I was taking notes in a little pad, of parts of the conversation.
I am writing this down about a minute after I hung up, after I
calmed down. LOL :)
Phone rings!
My dad and I pick up at the same time.
We hear the operator saying: “ This is an AT&T operator
with a collect call from: “Miguel” (Marisa’s
voice).
I tell my dad the call is for me. :)
Marisa says hi, I say hi, then she says : “OK, hold on a
second.”
The next thing I hear on the phone is Miguel’s voice:
“¡Feliz Cumpleaños Zoraida!” (At this point my heart
was going at 300mph--I have been waiting for this moment for over
16 years!)
Then I said: “¡Hola, Miguel! ¿Como estas?” “Te
habla Zory de Mayaguez, tu admiradora #1.” (Hi this is Zory,
your #1 fan)
Miguel says: “Gracias” (he said thanks alot, he is the
sweetest, most down to earth guy). He immediately tells me that
he received the b-day card I sent him to the fan club address and
that he saw the pictures of myself I sent him. :) I reminded him
that I had lost 55 pounds and he was happy for me. (Marisa later
told me that he saw her copy of another one of the same pictures
I sent him and he told her that that was Zory and that he had a
copy of the same picture.) :)
I, jokingly told him that my birthday is tommorrow (July 3rd) and
not today, but that I really appreciated that he took the time to
call me to wish me a happy birthday!!
He then said: “Oh my there are lots of us, those under the
Cancer zodiac sign”. I said, “Yes we are quite a
few.”
I asked him about the surprise B-day party for him in Los Angeles
and he said he was really surprised, he really didn’t expect
it! I told him I was so sorry I could not go because of the
distance. He said, “That’s ok, thanks again for the
card.”
Then again (trying to be calm :) I told him, “No thank you
for taking the time to call me, I know you are busy.” He
said, “No problem, its a pleasure.” AHHH (I was
pinching myself!!)
I mentioned that I had just seen them on Regis and Kathy Lee. He
quickly asked: “Did you like it?” I said, “Of
course, it was great!!” I told him that it is a shame those
live shows have time limits and they couldn’t perform the
entire song. I complimented him on his suspenders, heehee he
looked great!! He just said, “Gracias.”
I told him that he has a great following on the
Menudo/Reencuentro online community!! And that alot of the fans
online knew that he has always been my favorite. He said,
“Yeah, I was just talking about that with Marisa.” Then
again he said, “Gracias.”
I told him I was a member of his fan club in CA and he quickly
responded(didn’t even let me finish the sentence)--”So
quickly, that was real fast!!” I told him, “Of course I
became a member of your club so quickly, never had a doubt I
would become a member.”
Then he immediately asked me if I had received the membership kit
things or anything from the club. I told him I had received a
poster. He then asked, “The big one?” I said yes,
“The one you are standing up, wearing white.” He
replied, “I really love that photo.” I said, “Me
too!” A little concerned he then told me, “But
don’t worry you’ll receive the other things soon.”
(Minutes after I hung up the phone I drove to the post office and
there was the membership kit.) Thanks Miguel!
I then told him, “I don’t know if Dña. Gloria (his
mom) has told you, but I begin law school in Ponce (Puerto Rico)
this fall. Right now I am moving from Mayagüez to Ponce. I hate
moves!” He then gave me a little pep talk. He said, “
Oh, really, don’t worry about it because even though
you’ll have to work hard for some years, you’ll see the
results later.” I just said, “You are very right,
Miguel.”
I then mentioned that my two brothers played drums too. But that
one is a lawyer now and the other one begins law school too. I
think he was impressed with what I said about drum playing
because he said, “Wow” (I was talking about double-bass
drums, cymbals etc..)
He then said he had to go because he was going with the guys do a
promotion, but that it had been a pleasure talking to me! I told
him that I only hoped I could meet him face to face soon.
I finished by telling him, “Lots of luck in the tour, I wish
everything turns out perfect, that I loved him alot, may God
bless him (he said “Dios te Bendiga a ti tambien”) and
that I sent him two big kisses over the phone (so I did). He
responded by saying “Un besote grande para ti tambien”
so he sent me one too!
Then again he said, “Gracias” and I said, “No,
gracias a ti!!”
Before hanging up he said, “Hold on so you can talk to
Marisa.” I said, “Ok y gracias.”
Marisa then asked me if I was happy. I told her that was the best
b-day present I have received to date!
THANK YOU MARISA FOR MAKING THIS CONVERSATION POSSIBLE. IT WAS
DEFINITELY WORTH THE WAIT!! :)
