“Les Miserables” Comes to CIHS Theater as Fall Musical

         Coming to Cambridge-Isanti High School Theater from the Broadway and London stages is “Les Miserables”, widely recognized as the World’s most popular musical.  “ Les Miserables” is being performed by the CIHS theater department as their annual Fall Musical during the weekends of November 14-15 and November 20-23, 2003.  There will also be a Dinner Theater production on Nov 22 at 4:30pm and an Alumni Recognition Performance on Nov 15, both sponsored by the CIHS Stage Brigade Booster’s Club.  The show, which won 8 Tony Awards, 2 Grammy Awards and was named Best Musical in London, Australia, and Paris will be performed by 80+ Cambridge-Isanti students.

Ì—p™˜šÐ™ “The Secret Garden”;  Flannigan playing Mary Lennox and Opatz playing Ben Weatherstaff.  Opatz was Stephano in the CIHS production of  Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” in 2002. This production introduces three new lead performers, Chris Nordin as Enjolras, Kasey Phifer as Fantine and Amanda Kennedy as Madam Thenardier.  “Les Miserables” also includes many strong supporting parts including student revolutionaries played by Kyle Kokesh (who also plays the Bishop), Marcus Bjorklund, Brennan Bohmann, and Dane Tarrman plays Grantaire.  Brent Keough and Clinton LaBeau take on antagonists roles as the Paris sleaze and Factory Foreman, respectively.
         Cambridge Middle School 7th grade student, Trevor Maloney takes on the role of Gavroche.  He is  member of the National Boy’s Choir.  5th grader  Elise Boyum will perform as  Little Cosette and 4th grader Tessa Opatz is Little Eponine.  Both performed this past summer in the Junior Theater Troupe production of “Annie, Get Your Gun”.
