From Free family story, Around this time William Free's farm was sold to a neighbour and Eliza and the younger Free children went to live in the nearby township of Watchem where, on 7 November 1894, Eliza married William Bruce. In 1899 her youngest daughter, Mary Ann Free married John William Donnan at Watchem. John's father was Hugh Donnan, a farmer at Ellyminyt who was born in County Down in Ireland. His mother, Susan Ardle, was also Irish, hailing from Queen's County. Mary Ann and John's wedding, was reported by the Donald Times as 'a pleasant gathering of relatives and friends' which took place at the residence of Eliza Bruce. 'The bride, who was given away by her brother, was prettily attired in a gown of pale heliotrope cashmere, trimmed with satin and baby ribbon, and relieved with a frill of white lisse. The bridesmaids were Miss Maggie Donnan and Miss Ruby Johnson, sister and neice of the bridegroom' At the breakfast, the report continued. 'the usual toast of "Bride and Bridegroom" was honored, and at its conclusion the party drove to the residence of the bridegroom's mother, where the wedding festivities were kept up during the evening'.

I was both amazed and fascinated to find your website, especially finding reference to Joshua Dunstan. I am tracing my family tree and I am certain this Joshua who came to Ballarat in 1851 is related. I am sure he had a brother in Cornwall named Caleb who also came out to the Ballarat / Coburg area two years earlier than Joshua in 1848 on the ship Nelson. He came with his wife Mary Jane Goodman. Caleb died aged 72 in 1896 in Coburg. On Calebs death certificate are his parents details; William Dunstan and Sarah De Comage, both of Cornwall. I note your spelling as Sarah De Courage. Caleb (Joshua's brother) had a Son Caleb (jnr) who moved to Western Australia and started my Dunstan line here in the West.
Where did you get the details of Joshua? because I am having difficulty reconciling some of the zigsaw puzzle. I would like to know more about Joshua and Caleb and get more information about William and Sara De Courage (De Comage) who lived in Cornwall.
Any help or direction you provide will be greatly appreciated.

I got the information on Joshua's parents from the Victorian death index
DUNSTAN Joshua D Wm Sarah DE COURAGE aged 57 died at COBURG 1882 ref 974
and also for Ann
DUNSTAN Ann D Spargo James Mary Ann SPARGO aged 48 born in CORNWALL 1879 ref 4206
In 1880 Victoria started indexing Place of Death instead of putting the 'Place of Birth answered in the index
Looking at Shipping to 1851 I did not find Joshua in the Assisted lists
but did find listed twice because the index is a combination of two lists .
