Hi Elizabeth, I have just found your entry on the internet referring to my great great grandfather - John Clark Hammond. I would be interested if you have any more information about him.
My grandfather (Stanley Hammond) was the son of Ernest Clark Hammond whose father was John Clark Hammond.
My father Richard James Hammond spent most of his life in Toowoomba My mum is into Genealogy in a big way, but unfortunately we have reached a bit of a dead end around gg grandfather John Clark Hammond. We are led to believe that he came from England before 1850 on a survey ship called the "Rattlesnake" and jumped ship in Australia. I have been to the PRO in London and looked through the ships log for the Rattlesnake, but it doesn't seem to mention any reference to him. What we are really interested in is details of his birth as we would like to track down his birth certificate/details.
Hope you can help and if there is anything we can help with, please ask.
Many thanks
Colin Hammond

Thankyou to for his help on Fri, 18 Nov, 2005 and on Wed, 13 Feb, 2008
