Charles Mathew McShane comes from a vary old blacksmithing family that can be traced back as far as the 17th century. He was born on Aug. 23, 2129. He spent most of his childhood in around his fathers shop in Dunmore, but when he turned 15 he was sent to the long standing school for boys, Eton. He did not last more then a year there before leaving to come back home. The next few years where spent shuffling from one school to the other without much success. He finally landed in a small electronics vocational school that he passed though vary quickly.

After graduating a 2 year college he managed to get a job as a basic electrician in the shipyards for the later steps of the Warp 5 project. After the first ship was built Charles tried to join the officer class at Starfleet though he found that he was not cut out for any kind of long term schooling. A short time later he enlisted.

His father is one of the few around the world that still hold to old traditions and still make small metal items with out the aid of modern machines in the old blacksmith style. Mathew McShane leads a simple life by modern standards, but provides may things for the town in which he lives. Jessica (Jessie) McShane, Charles mother is a computer programming specialist who helped to develop some of the core control systems of the NX class starships before she returned to the development of her own programs while her son was still in high school.

McShane has just begun his career in Starfleet so does not have much if anything on his record. Though the time that he spent in offcer training does provide a small black mark that could come back to hunt him.
