How to Build a Computer Lab


Traveling to this link will make building a computer lab as easy as possible, as long as you consider your budget and use extensive amounts of teamwork.  It will guide you through some obvious steps, such as purchasing computer equipment, and also through some not so obvious ones, such as the layout of electrical outlets and their quality.

Security Devices:
Security is a crucial element to consider when developing a computer lab.  This section under the above link contains a list of the estimated cost for installing three cameras with time lapse video.  Another option mentioned is dead bolting all doors, in addition to their regular locks and issuing keys to only certain individuals.

I was amazed to find such a detailed list of estimated costs.  Some of the items that appear on the list include PCs with monitors, several different types of printers, the cables needed to route the printers, headphones, speakers, etc.

There is also a section on the furniture needed and adequate layout of computers in the classroom.  I was surprised to find out how crucial the arrangement of the computers can be and the benefits it can provide the students, as well as the instructors.
