Keypals |
This
keypal structure would be
useful in many settings. The keypal could be used to learn about
different state or cultures. Just like writing penpal letters to
learn about a "big city" life at school. |
Global Classrooms |
The global
classroom would be useful to use with a another class who is studying
the same book as what you are trying to teach. Students would be
able to share discussion and points of view, which would be different
depending on the location of the class. |
Electronic Appearances |
Having
this structure could be the most useful and cost effective for the
students. Electronic appearances could be used with any
subject. Just think if your were studying butterflies how much
students would be involved if an expert taught the lesson instead of
the
teacher. |
Telementoring |
Telementoring
is a great idea to match younger with older students. This
concept doesn't have to even be linked with subjects, but it would
allow the older students to feel important and the younger students
proud to be talking with an older student. |
Question-and-Answer Activities |
Studying
certain subjects this idea is very useable. For instance if you
were studying space the students could connect with NASA's team
and asked questions that were not found in the books that they are
reading. I think that this activity would keep the students
engaged and wanting to find out more about the studied subject. |
Impersonations |
Having two
classes in different areas studying the same subject/book.
Students would be able to impersonate a character and other students
could ask the characters questions about the book. This would
encourage students to read the book so that they could play a character
or ask the characters questions. |
Information Exchanges | Students
and students from different sates who are studying about weather
could make a web page or email about the different fronts that are
moving across the states and how long it takes to get from one state to
the next. |
Database Creation/ Electronic Publishing/ Telefieldtrips/ Pooled Data Analysis |
Students
would then collect the data and post it on the web or email the data to
the other schools. This would give the students an
opportunity to see if the weather person is right. The students
from all the states can share the finding, weather it is taking a class
field trip about the weather or taking pictures of what the weather
outside. |
Information Searches | This
structure is like a treasure hunt. The teacher could put the
students into small groups of two to three students and have the
students search for various, simple areas of the internet to
familiarize them with it. |
Peer Feedback Activities |
Younger
student could be paired with older students. If the younger
students are just learning ways to write better stories, then the older
students could work on reading and correcting the stories. |
Parallel Problem Solving |
This is a
brain teaser activity. The teacher could find a brain teaser of
the week and let the students work on it all week with out giving the
answer until the end of the week. |
Sequential Creations |
Students
from different states or cities could be a tour guide and create a list
of what the students should see and learn about before visiting their
area. |
Telepresent Problem Solving/ Simulations/ Social Action Projects |
This structure bring the world to the classroom. Students could debate problems that are happening to them as students with other students from a different state. The students could also come up with different things to try to see if it will solve the problem or not. |
