Final Project/Exam
Please read the following
instructions carefully.
You are a Travel Agent for Messmer
Travel Services of Greater Milwaukee. You have been given the responsibility
of providing travel arrangements for a party of two: Mr. & Mrs. Tony Ornelas. Mr. & Mrs. Ornelas have asked you to design a vacation
package for them to a selected destination at your instructor’s
discretion. The vacation should
last two weeks and your budget is ten thousand dollars. The following items are
required:
1.
A business letter from
you (Messmer Travel Services of Greater Milwaukee) to Mr. & Mrs. Tony
Ornelas. The letter should be
written using block form and should include all the elements of a business
letter. (Refer to business letter
format.) In the business letter you should briefly explain the vacation you
have developed for them. The end
of your business letter should include Enclosures: Itinerary, Spreadsheet, and Flyer. Also, you may use the project gallery to design your
letterhead.
2.
Spreadsheet. You must develop a spreadsheet that
accounts for how the money is being spent on the vacation. The following items must be included
and accounted for on the spreadsheet:
a. Name of Vacation
b. Number of days of the vacation
c. Travel Costs:
Airfare, bus, train, taxi service, car rental, other
d. Food. You
must account separately for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, for each day of
the vacation.
e. Entertainment.
You must include at least one (1) activity per day of vacation.
f.
Shopping/Souvenirs. You must account for the cost of items
purchased.
g. Miscellaneous.
You must account for any other expenses.
IMPORTANT: The more detail you have, the more
points you will earn.
Your spreadsheet should use
the SUM function and AVERAGE function.
You must use cell references in your function and not the actual
values. You may include simple
formulas if necessary. All Labels
should be right aligned and italicized.
You should use the currency option in formatting your cells. Totals (only) should be in bold. Include a header that names the vacation and a footer
that lists your name, class period and the date you turned in the project. Print a copy, one with your formulas
displayed including gridlines.
3.
You must design a flyer
that advertises the vacation destination you have chosen for Mr. & Mrs.
Ornelas. In your flyer, you should
have at least three pictures that appropriately and aesthetically advertise
your vacation location. You should
use brief descriptions to describe the pictures in your flyer. Your flyer should fill an 8 1/2 X 11 page or a 11 X 81/2
page.
4.
Itinerary. A chart showing each day’s activities
and destinations.
5.
A background document
highlighting the historical and cultural achievements of the people who live in
the selected destination area. The length is required to be at least three
hundred words. Include two or three pictures highlighting the history and
culture of the area.
6. Cover Page. Your cover page should include the name of the vacation location, at least one picture or one clip art, your name, class period and date. You name, class period and the date must be centered at the bottom of the page using a footer. You may not use any of the pictures you used on the flyer.
