make your own
home-made metal bikini
Thanks to Jamin for the photo.
The one question I get
asked the most is how to get a Slave Leia costume for a
convention or a Halloween party. Sadly there isn't an
"official" one, but that hasn't stopped some
creative folk from making their own. Tania was kind enough to send me her "recipe" and a picture of her good self at 1999's Denver Celebration thingie. So, as I think Han once said: "Here goes nothing..." |

Step 1 Close
friend takes wire and moulds it around Leia shaped person's
boobs and hips to get a frame that would fit just right. Step 2 Get a light-weight foamy clay like Model Magic (crayola product for kids) and sculpt it around the metal and paint it with gold foil craft paint. Step 3 The red material is then sewn or glued in. Glue a pair of panties in the bottom and cut the sides out. (Or use snaps instead. That will make it a lot easier to clean.) Step 4 The boots are made from an old pair of shoes that you hot glue head liner to and trim it with more wire and model magic. They have elastic loops that go around the ankle to make it stay up. Step 5 Get some fake hair and make a Leia shaped pigtail out of it. Step 6 The Jewellery: Buy a snake bracelet in a store and paint it gold. The other bracelet and the hair pieces are made from model magic on top of cardboard. Tania: "I hope this information will benefit humanity." Extra Bits... John wrote to say that he found a forum on theforce.net devoted to making Leia bikinis. He has also found a photopoint album of someone else who has made a great Metal Bikini. Also Check out ebay and yahoo auctions where this bikini has been on sale... ...for a few hundred dollars... |
