Taproot is another rap-metal band, which on its latest release, Gift, leans more towards the raging metal side. The underground tracks and the self-produced LP were more Limp Bizkit style songs with lots of solid rapping, in fact the songs were much better than Limp Bizkit's. Limp's very own, Fred Durst, attempted to get them a deal with Interscope Records but they walked away. This led to the answering machine message Durst placed on the Taproot answering machine. Taproot went public with the message and put it on Napster, where you can still download it today. They were later signed to another record company and made their first produced CD, Gift. Gift doesn't feature the heavy rhyming of the earlier songs, but is still a great buy for all you hard rock, punk, and metal lovers out there.
