Chapter 21 |
+rita's point~of~view+ Rage burned in me. It was the night after Alania's ball and to strengthen my hate for her, she took away one of things that mattered to me most: Jay. When I was summoned to her chambers, I felt something inside me rise. Was it hate? Doubt? Worry? I do not know. The stout guards unlocked my cell door, threw it to the side and grabbed me by my arm. "Alania is waiting for you," rasped one of the guards. His breath hit me and I winced. "You HAVE to get a toothbrush or a breath mint. Either one. Just get rid of that fucking raunchy breath!" I declared. "Hmm. Mademoiselle, you are just lucky that my friend and I are in grand emotions today. If we weren't, you would be nothing but ashes on the floor by now..." hissed the second guard. I rolled my eyes, but let myself be drug to the demonic whore's, er, queen's corridors. They opened the double doors quickly and threw me in. I turned back quickly and said with thick sarcasm, "Oh, you are SUCH gentlemen!" Slowly, I turned around to the front again and scrolled the room with my eyes. Occasionally, touching the aristocrat furniture that must have been over a thousand years old. Then, someone that was resting on the couch caught my attention. His eyes were tightly closed and his legs were pulled up to his chest. Coby! I rushed to his side and started shaking him while whispering, "Coby! Are you all right? Respond, Coby!" Taking his face in my hands, I realized that it was indigo. What the fuck? An abject noise escaped far into him and I started pushing lightly against his chest. The pressure increased and Coby choked out some water. "No! Don't kill me! Stop!" Coby cried out before breaking into sobs. "Sh, Jacoby. You are all right now. What did the bitch do to you?" I asked in a hush voice. "Rita!" Coby sniffled, "She almost murdered me. Alania held my head underwater and I guess I must have passed out... Thank God that you revived me..." I gave him a firm hug and as he returned the favor, he trembled uninterrupted. "We are going to get out of here, Jacoby," I whispered in his ear, "We are." "Are you certain about that?" His voice consisted of a mortal little boy's. Frightened, full of disbelief of what he was hearing. "Yes," I replied, glaring into his eyes. The windows to his soul, but of course, that was gone now. As time passed, Coby became calm and whispered, "I hope we can. I want things to be normal, but that is not possible, is it? Lord, I miss you guys. One night of seeing you all is not enough. Did Jayden or I mention--" Coby pulled away and glanced into my eyes. A heart broken look now, "That we are to be wed?" to be continued... |
