Chapter Three |
For the first week of Coby's vampiric life, one of my fellow vampire friends or I would take him out on a feed. He asked us why we didn't hunt in the daylight, but our only answer was that we all liked the shield that the darkness gave us. It was like our second home. In that week, he noticed of how different we fed. I liked to play with my victims. Seducing them through their thoughts until their desires were heightened and then I'd strike. Rita seemed bored with the whole thing. Choose the victim, try to bite them as quickly as she could so she would get the whole thing over with. Nicole was another seducer, but she adored to whisper sweet nothings to them before she striked. Laurel liked to play mind games with her unsuspecting victims. She'd strike right before their fear completely faded away. And then, there was Lee. Never in my immortality did I see so much agony and horror when she hunted. Lee would drain her victims until fatigue set in and, after a couple of begs for their lives, she'd take them completely. I noticed that she had her eyes on a specific young man who always attended to the downtown club "The Rave." He had black hair that touched down to his shoulders; piercing, dark pools made up his eyes and a little black goatee and moustache brought out the childish innocence in his face. "All in good time," she told us, "He'll be mine..." It now had been eight days since I turned Coby into a vampire. He had returned from accompanying Laurel on her own feeding as well as his. When a vampire tries to keep a secret, they do so unsuccessfully. It's like a sick sense between the maker and the spawn. Nobody could hide their secrets anyway. And I read in his thoughts about how he missed his friends and his family members. So did I, but eventually, I got used to not seeing them until gradually, I didn't want to see them at all. Coby had strange dreams ever since he became introduced to the Dark World, which seemed funny to all of us. We dreamed about who we killed, yes, but it did not bother us. Every single mortal that stalked the planet was nothing but our food and little whores that flooded the continents with their impurity. After all, every mortal is a murderer: everyone looks at a dead or dying animal at least ONCE in a great while, do they not? Yes, they do. It was around one in the morning when Coby raced down the stairs, shaken by yet another nightmare. 'I HAVE to get out of this house. If I don't, insanity will eat at me!' Rita looked up from the couch from her magazine and asked, "Where in the Devil are you going at one in the morning, Jacoby? Hungry again?" Nicole walked in on the scene, "Should we go with you?" Lee looked at me in warning as she said to me mentally, 'I don't trust this new vampire that you brought to us.' 'Hey, YOU were very difficult as well your own first years, remember?' I retorted back to her with my mind. "I can't stay here anymore!" Coby snapped, eyes glowing golden black, "I hate what I am, I hate the demon that I have become and I REFUSE to go on like this any longer! I'm going back home, whether you like it or not! Jayden, you made me into a ruthless murderer and I hope you burn in Hell!" His gaze was fixated on me as if I had just driven a stake through his heart. I opened my mouth, but out came nothing. "It isn't just Jayden's fault; it's ALL of your fault!" Coby continued, glaring hard at each and every one of us. "Hey, we didn't ask for this neither, but we eventually got used to it!" Laurel snapped at him, "Stop acting like some six year old. You are what you are and you just gotta except it." "Goddammit, Coby, you go out there, you won't survive!" Lee added, fury growing in her voice. Within a blink of an eye, I was automatically up to Coby with my hands on his shoulders, "Jacoby, you hardly know anything about living on your own. That is why you're still here with us. We're here to teach you everything that is required to know about us!" I tried to keep my voice calm and soft, but I could tell that he detected my rage in it. A hundred things were rushing in his mind. All of them would either be the clincher of our argument or the start of it. Instead, he simply hissed at me, "Fuck you. I hate all of you and I distaste the ground that you all walk on!" Before any of us could shoot back, he stormed out the door. ^..^ Coby walked in the door of his house that never had anyone in it for quite some time. Dust was already crowding up at the corners and because that the house was unattended, spiders were beginning to make homes. Now, it was 4 A.M. Wondering who in their right mind would call at this ungodly hour, he picked it up. Immediately, Tobin's voice greeted him, "Where in the Hell have you been, Coby?! I've been callin' ya for days, but I never got ahold of you!" "Tobin! Er, sorry 'bout that, buddy. I was staying over at some chicks' house and I guess I just lost track of the time. Ha." "OoOo! A CHICKS' house! Did you do each and every one of 'em?" "If I did, that's for me to know and for you to find out!" "Well, excuuuuse me! Okay, I gotta go, but I'll call you sometime tomorrow." "A'ight. See ya." "Bye, and don't die on me!" 'Too late.' Coby thought mournfully. ^..^ The next day turned into a full week. Coby raised an eyebrow and made an exasperated laugh, "Funny, Tobin. You know how to get your revenge all right." Just then, the phone rang. Interrupting his thoughts. Once again, Tobin's voice greeted him, "Coby Dick, I could just smack you!" Coby's eyes widened in question, but Tobin broke off his reply, "These chicks kick total ass and I never knew that drinking blood could be so damn awesome!" to be continued... |
