Chapter Four |
"What?! Tobin, are you jerking my chain?! Where the fuck are you?!" "Where am I? I'm at your house with those girls you mentioned to me! I'm so royally pissed at you for trying to keep this a secret!" "Tobin! No! Listen to what you are saying. You know NOTHING about vampires nor their ways! Just stay there and don't let them do anything to you!" ^..^ Coby bursted in the front door. Almost all of his skin was turned scarlet from his blood sweat and his eyes burned with even more rage then before. Tobin was on the floor, drinking soothingly from a female victim. Anger boiled in his veins when I gave him a look of guile. His hands came across the knife he stored away in his black trench coat. I knew what he was doing, but something told me to restrain. Just as he raised his knife, Nicole grabbed him from behind and clutched his wrist which held the knife harshly. In great pain, he dropped the knife and squirmed underneath her grasp. "Jacoby," Nicole laughed gently in his ear, "we weren't expecting you back so soon!" "That's a bunch of bull shit!" he cried, "You knew if you got one of my best friends here that I would stay! Dammit, Jayden!" He spitted out my name like it was a cuss word. My eyes turned golden black as I hissed, "Do you obviously think sacrificing me will solve your problems? Believe me, darling, it ain't worth it." "It ain't worth it?!" he repeated, almost screaming, "My life isn't worth it to you, you bitches!" Lee gave a look of surprise and concern, "You'll get used to immortality. It just takes time and patience. You need those two qualities in order to surpass your denial!" Coby's face turned from Lee to Tobin, who had stopped from his drinking and, with blood on his lips, asked him, "Why is your eyes that color?" Coby rolled his maniac eyes, "Because, Tobin, I'm pissed off!" Laurel simply let out a giddy laugh, "Jacoby's just a dick. Ignore him when he gets this way." Coby's rage turned up a couple of volumes before they slowly started decreasing. Tears formed in his eyes and Nicole released her grip. Immediately, he ran up the stairs, sobbing. "Should we go up after him?" Rita asked, eyebrows raising with query. "I don't think that's a grand idea, Rita," replied Lee, "He'll eventually calm down, but now, he's too dangerous to be around." I cringed when I heard his bedroom door slam to a close. I couldn't just let him suffer like this. I was like a mother to him in a way and you know how mothers get sometimes. Protective. Sometimes, overly. Nicole sighed as she crossed her arms which were in fishnet sleeves, "I hope you know what you did when you introduced him to the Dark World, Jayden." "She knew what she was doing," Laurel barged in to restrain me from releasing my acrimony, "The whole entire getting used to takes quite awhile." ^..^ Coby fell on his bed in a fit of tears. The blood he had sweat was dry and clung to him in several areas, but he ignored it. He remembered the memories of when he was a mortal and was uncertain that he could ever perform with his band again without people drawing in suspicion. Then, he evoked the thought of me telling him his first night that he had the ability to hypnotize. But, he was still a newborn and his mind was beginning to get used to all the mind readings, the things he could move with only his mind and so on. Then, he looked up with the blanket crinkling between his fingers and tried to look around through the wavy vision that the tears gave him. Black was on the walls and carpet, the color of blood was on both his pillows and blanket and his mirror on his dresser was slightly cracked from the fit that he had just last night. I knocked on the door, "Coby? You all right? Let me in." "Go away," he sniffled, burying his head in the bed again. "That won't be easy, I pray." I replied softly with my mind. The thought struck him instinctively as he thought back, "Come in." On command, I entered and swiftly closed the door behind me. I looked sheepish as I buried my hands in my pants pockets and shifting my weight from one foot to the other. "Look," I began, "It may be hard to believe, but I DO got a conscience, y'know. We all do, but we sometimes don't ACT like it. If we do, we'd seem weak. Appearance and how you kill without a breath of remorse all count in the eyes of--" "Just stop it, Jayden. I don't wanna live in this household with you and still be angry, so let's just drop it now, huh?" Coby sat on the bed as the springs creaked underneath his light movement. "You don't hate us anymore?" A rare certainty smile graced my face and he returned the favor. I stalked up to him with the noise of my shoes interrupting the silence between us. His head was lowered and his hands made an upside down chapel until he finally intertwined his fingers together. "Coby..." I began, dropping to my knees. My icy hands glided over his warm ones. They felt almost lifelike! Hesitating, Coby raised his head and glared at me. "I'm so sorry that I brought you here. Downstairs, you had every right to kill me with that knife, but I knew deep down that you didn't want to. You've got a pure heart and don't let that slip through your fingers. We're going to need some grounding." He smiled at me as he whispered, "I love you, Jayden." "I love you too, Coby." ^..^ "The Rave" was the best, well, restaurant in town. It was full of young, healthy mortals who are expecting or unaware that Death might call their number. Lee was the first one to enter in the club doors. She inhaled deeply and chuckled darkly. "Rita and I will be downstairs," Laurel said with a devilish grin. Rita smiled, "Bye, bye. Have fun!" They disappeared in the pushing crowd. Nicole said, "I'll be in the corner with that young man in the red Yankees cap." "All right then. See ya, Nicky." Lee called behind her. She looked around for her own victim. By the stage was the man that she had her OWN eyes on. His hair had grown a little bit longer than the last time she saw him, but he still had his blinding beauty. A smile was at the corners of her mouth as she walked up cooly to him. When she drew nearer, they made eye contact and the young man looked at her through his hair. "Hmm. You look awfully familiar." "Oh? Do I now? Who do I remind you of?" "Mmm, KoRn's Jonathan Davis. That IS who you are, isn't it?" "The one and only." "I always thought KoRn was the best band out there and that Jonathan was the sexiest frontman." "Already, you're flirting with me. You're a quick one." "Thank-you." "Come, sit besides me. I'll buy you a drink." "Thanks." It was near eleven o'clock and Lee spotted Nicole flirting aimlessly with her victim. His crystal blue eyes glittered in the multicolored lights when she whispered in his ear. He smiled. Lee kept her focus on her and, before she could blink, Nicole struck and her victim opened his mouth to scream. She wasn't sure if he did or not since Crazy Town's "Darkside" overwhelmed the speakers. Drowning out EVERYONE'S hearing. Then, he went limp in her arms. 'Good girl, Nicole.' Lee turned to Jonathan, whose eyes were growing heavy with sleepiness. 'You're going to be mine, Jonathan...' to be kontinued... |
