After 6 years of waiting for a new studio album metallica return with St Anger. A raw album with slayer, discharge style riffs. This has to be the most agressive and heaviest ablum metallica have ever done.A classic!

Well, first things first, I have to confess to being an obsessive Metallica fan, but I'll try my best to not be bias.
After waiting six years since the last Metallica studio album we find the band returning to their uglier, more brutal thrashy sound. They also incorporate some typical 90's Metallica riffs as well as some nu-metal influenced riffs (but thankfully, not too many).
Opening track, Frantic, opens the album with a blistering riff only slowing down for the part after each chorus, the song's outro is a cool bluesy riff that sees Lars back to his old hammering style.
Title track St.Anger is a weird song, apart from the awesome opening riff, it's basically tuneless, especially James' vocals.
Other stand out tracks for me include Dirty Window, with a greasy "fuck You" Discharge style verse and an almost Iron Monkey like chorus. Add these to an off throwing melodic part with James singing "I'm judge and I'm jury and I'm executioner too" and you have one hell of a song.
I also really like Invisible Kid, opens like a Slipknot song then falls into a complex, bruised, emotional tune with excellent lyrics.
I haven't really listened to the album enough to fully make my mind up, but so far I really like what I hear!
GOOD BITS:
Lars using double peddle again! You can tell they haven't wrote this for the radio. THRASH!!!
BAD BITS:
Where's the fucking guitar solos?!?! James' vocals sometimes don't fit too well with the riffs.
