BANDAI Tallgeese (1/144 Scale)

Tallgeese is another unique mobile suit from the Wing series. The model comes with an oversized gun, a round shield, and two large thrusters. Needless to say this kit looks great even without painting, but there are problems with all the accessaries it carries. The big gun and one of the thrusters are constantly fighting over space. When both thrusters are fully opened, they are on each other's way. In fact the inner panels of both thrusters cannot be fully opened, but that is not as bad as the space issue between gun and thruster. Then there is this problem with the thrusters simply hanging on the back, which brings a question about this mecha's design. Sure it looks very cool, but how can this guy fly with 2 giant thrusters supported by small bins pertained to its shoulder pads? It's like being picked up by a giant hawk grabing on the shoulders.

Enough said about engineering on the model. Let's get to the construction. This model looks complicated but there aren't many pieces to start with. Most components are 2~3 pieces glued together, with polycap embedded. The legs and arms are cylindrical shapes which make putty and sanding easier. I airbrushed the entire model with green as the base. Then touched up individual areas with brushes. The shield is a little difficult to paint. It took me a while to do that hawk in the middle. The overall tone is a little dark, but it is still a great looking model!
