Fe allech chi gael eich maddau am feddwl fod rownd derfynol Cwpan Cymru wedi cymryd lle y dydd Sul diwethaf, yn enwedig os ydych chi'n un o wrandawyr cyson "Radio Wales". Oherwydd roedden nhw wedi penderfynu gwastraffu arian y trethdalwyr ar roi sylwebaeth ar rownd derfynol Cwpan Worthington Lloegr. Cwpan hollol ddiddim hyd yn oed i'r Saeson - wel doedd Man U ddim hyd yn oed wedi trafferthu gyrru eu tîm cryfaf i'r gystadleuaeth hon. Ag roedd dau dim o Adran Gyntaf Lloegr wedi cyrraedd y rownd gyn derfynol - felly doedd hwn ddim yn union yn achlysur mawreddog. A byddai unrhyw un oedd efo diddordeb wedi gallu cael sylwebaeth ar Radio Five Live. Felly beth yn union oedd y pwrpas gyrru Rob Phillips i Stadiwm y mileniwm i roi sylwebaeth ar gêm oedd o ddim pwys o gwbl i Gymru? Yn syml, roedd Phillips yn teimlo ei fod wedi cyrraedd y 'Big Time' yn cael sylwebu ar dim mor enfawr â chewri Birmingham sydd heb fod ar gyfyl adran uchaf Lloegr ers blynyddoedd maith - bron mor hir â Chaerdydd. Hefyd, roedd Gwyn Hughes yn ei gweld hi ddigon pwysig i beidio ymddangos ar gôl iddo gael cefnogi y mawrion o Lerpwl. Beth yn union ddywedodd Ian yn rhaglen Caerfyrddin a'r League of Wales News am bobl oedd yn cefnogi timau Lloegr? |
Well, you could be forgiven for thinking that the final of the Welsh Cup took place this Sunday, especially if your a regular listener of Radio Wales. Because they had, in their wisdom, made the decision of wasting the taxpayer’s dosh on covering the final of the Worthinton Cup. This game wasn't even important for most English people. A cup that after all that was so prestigious that Manchester United didn't bother to field their strongest team in it. A cup so prestigious that two teams from England's First Division had reached the semi-final stage. And for those interested, they could have received radio commentary from Five Live. So what exactly was the purpose of sending Rob Phillips to the millennium Stadium for a game that had no importance at all for Wales? Simply because Rob wanted a day out with the 'Big Boy's' and commentate on the giants of Birmingham City that haven't been in England's top tier for nearly as long as Cardiff City. Also Gwyn Hughes had seen it important enough for him to miss Gôl just to be there to support the giants of Liverpool who I'm sure were glad of his "loyal support". What exactly did Ian say in Carmarthen's programme and the League of Wales News about those people who support English Teams? |
