Geneva Wednesday Sept 24th, 2003

Scooter with Roll-bar After nearly 60 years a member of the Scouts, Max has finally visited the Headquarters. We have been to Gilwell House, where Baden Powell lived, and to B-P House in London. Now we are in Geneva, and hopes are high.

May God smile on you today,
Elizabeth

We turned into Rue du Pre-Jerome, and realised that a familiar sign heralded our destination. A kind chap showed us the lift, and the Receptionist on the First Floor.
Neighbours Fir tree
The view out the window was a surprise - opposite is a single story building with a lawn on the roof - space appreciated by these pigeons. Seven-story tall appartment houses are the expected views.
Going to school Stop for a photo
Neil Armstrong took his Scout Badge to the Moon - and it now is proudly diisplayed in the Bureau office.
School gate Path to front door
We are getting the hang of the Geneva transport system, and used first a Number 9, then 13 to come along Rue de Carouge to bus-stop Augustins, where we walked back to find Rue du Pre-Jerome and the World Scout Bureau.
Supermarket Familiar fruits, unfamiliar names
We caught the bus number 33 in the city, planning to take a round trip along the Route de Vandoeuvres, and see the sights. To our surprise, we saw a vineyard, and decided to take a closer look.
Smart Car. Seats two and some shopping
The bus stop is called Le-Fort with the vineyard beside it, and this place name was close to the stop. This small bunch of Shiraz was missed by the pickers.
Water wanders through the park Frontenex Arret sur demande
The vines appear young, although the trunks show more age. They are planted about 60 cms apart, with about 8 shoots grown for the season's fruit. At Frontenex the bus stops if we signal - Arret sur demande.
