Ahhhh, the hair of teenagers. My son, Ian, was never particularly interested in what his hair looked like until about a year ago. And then it became of utmost importance. He has beautiful, thick, very curly hair...which he detests. LOL. He and his friend, Zach, work hard at their hair. They give each other pointers on hair products and styles. For instance, did you know that plain old Rave hair spray for $2.99 at Walgreens works just as well on spiking one's hair as those $20 hair products I was forced to buy for over a year?! Elmer's Glue works, too. And it washes out well. However, apparently it's not very good for long spikes. Right now, both boys are back into the messy without too much spray look. Earlier, they were into the messy, big gigantic spikes look.

Anyway, I was looking through pictures one day and having a chuckle over the "I have to dye my hair an outrageous color" days, and decided a look at Ian's hair through the ages was in order.

So, here's a look from baby to toddler to punk teen. You can click on the pictures for a larger version, if you wish. (And, sweetie, if you're reading this: I have been a good Mom and NOT posted any naked baby pictures...for now...wahahahahahaaaaaaa!)

The Charlie Brown look. Here he is at six months, mind you, already standing and trying to crawl out of the bed. He was walking by 9 months.

I love this picture so much. This is when the blonde curls first started to grow.

Ah, the banana curls days. We were so poor when I got this shot that I could only do the "get one picture free" and had to pass on copies. With this do, many people thought my son was a girl. Shortly after this picture was taken he demanded a haircut because he told me he was tired of people thinking he was a girl.

Ian's penchant for coloring his hair reveals itself for the first time. He and his stepmother colored their hair. It was most humorous.

The blonde moppet stage. I loved that stage.

Half a mullet cut. He's so cute.

The backwards cap look. He wore this for some time. Unfortunately, I was never quick enough to snap a "hat hair" picture. The young blonde on his right is one of his sisters, Aimee. This would be one of perhaps two times that they were NOT trying to kill each other.

Hmmm, perhaps my son's fondness for different "dos" showed up earlier than I originally thought. Here he is with his friend, Eric. They both decided to wear wigs one day.

The preppie look.

The "I'm letting my hair grow wild and free look so don't even THINK about pulling a comb through it, Mom."

The pre-adolescent not quite a moppet look.

Here he begins to really decide exactly what kind of hair cut he wants. We went through skater cuts, etc., and then he decided he wanted "horns." You can tell how serious he is about taking control of his hair here by the ferocious look on his face. I love this picture.

Ahhh, so begins the different hair colors stage. This do comes complete with "horns."

Here the electric blue color has faded. It eventually became blonde. Then he went back and colored it himself and it turned GREEN. Then he went back and the hair stylist "saved" his hair.

Here's Zach and Ian. I was trying to get them to do an ABBA pose for me. They did not understand who ABBA is.

Zach and Ian from the front.

After this fuscia incident, Ian decided to give up on coloring his hair.

This is the latest do. Back to his original color, fluffy, messy and cool. You can see he's not terribly excited by my taking his picture.

This is the do that causes girls to exclaim in malls "That guy's hot." I can assure you, mothers do not like hearing teen-age girls exclaim that their son is "hot." Eeeek.

This is his "all right, enough already!" pose.
