Our Postal
address is as given at the bottom of the page. It is that
of the parsonage, the official residence of our Parish
Vicar. Since we do not have a church building of our own,
all written correspondence is directed to the address
given below. The Parsonage is only a few miles away from
the hall that we have learnt to call our church. The
'Ashankur hall' belongs to the Holy Family Roman Catholic
Church. Now the area
in reckoning as regards our parish is Andheri. The Parish
spans all of Andheri, Vile Parle, Marol, Sahar, Versova,
Jogeshwari suburbs of Mumbai. The above mentioned places
are suburbs within the district of Greater Mumbai in the
state of Maharashtra, India.
Given Below is the
thumbnail of Andheri and adjoining areas. The points of
interest to us are the approximate locations of our
current hall, our proposed parish and the parsonage. Click
on it to see an enlarged edition. It is a crude, scanned
copy but very well serves the purpose.
The state of Maharashtra is
on the west coast of India. It is bordered by the states
of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh,
Goa and Karnataka. Its capital is the commercial hub,
Mumbai or Bombay (our location exactly!).
Mumbai is an island well
connected to the mainland. South Mumbai heralds the
downtown area. Our place of interest is northwards from
Mumbai City into the suburb of Andheri. (See
Railmap)[41 KB]. Mumbai is reachable by rail by the
Central and the Western divisions of the Indian Railways.
Andheri is on the Western Railway and is an important
station in the Western suburbs.
The International Airport
is conveniently placed at Sahar which is often considered
as part of Andheri itself. The Domestic Airport is at
Santa Cruz, again very close to Andheri. There are a
choice of fine hotels in Andheri. starting from the
finest, The Maratha Sheraton, Hyatt Residency, Leela
Kempinski, Orchid, Kumaria Presidency to name a few. A cab
to the address given would be the most convenient mode of
transport. But Beware!..of Mumbai Cabbies. Please take
proper directions from a policeman or the hotel
authorities or they will take you for a ride. (pun
intended)
By Road, see the map
provided. Hoist yourself onto Andheri by means of the
Western Express Highway and then follow the map. But the
best bet would be to start from Andheri railway station
Eastwards as shown in the map above.
Ashankur Hall is hardly 2
Kilometers from Andheri Railway Station (East). Simply
take a auto-rickshaw or one of a host of local
transport buses heading through the location. Consult the
Bus Terminal Helpdesk for the right one. The Bus No's 340,
332, 415, 443, 434 etc are a few.
The proposed new church
location is at Kondivitta, a little bit more eastward.
Currently there is just a conference room temporarily
housed there. Funds are being desperately collected for
erecting our own parish building.
The Parsonage is at Bhavani
Nagar, Marol and is accessible by bus numbers 328 etc.
Please contact us if you
wish to visit us. It would be our pleasure to show you
around. Please call the Vicar on the number provided at
the bottom of the page or mail
