Primary Update

Dear Parents,
Welcome to another edition of Primary Update. This edition is full of photos, children’s work and reports on a variety of things going on around the primary school. The cross country was a great success (photos P1, results P2) as was the junior syndicate visit to the gardens last Thursday (children’s writing P2). Rooms A, B, C and D have visits to Science Alive as part of their science unit on electricity. Twelve children competed in the zone cross country (results in next Update) and a group goes away later this week to the Christian Schools’ Cross Country.
Please note that I will be away Thursday and Friday 10/11 May at a course, so I will be unavailable. This certainly is a busy time…

John Stackhouse.

FLOWER AND BUG POWER!
FANTASTIC ROOM 8
(YEAR 4) ART

Have you seen these displays? If you haven’t, you should take a look!! They are wonderful… bunches of sunflowers and brightly coloured ladybirds...

The sunflowers are beautifully arranged in the entrance to the school hall and the ladybirds can be found wandering the walls of the student services area.
A big thankyou to Mrs Dale Read for her work
with Room 8 art.

Primary Cross Country
The Primary School cross country was a great success, if a little damp! Burnside Park is a great venue. Placegetters go on to the zone cross country. Clockwise: 1. Mr Diggs doing stork impersonations… warm-up! 2. Through the autumn leaves. 3. Parents, staff and pupils ready to run. 4. Relieved to have finished!

Food for thought!

A poem I recently came across…
The builders

A builder built a temple
He wrought it with grace and skill
Pillars and columns and arches
All fashioned to work his will
Men said as they saw its beauty
It shall never, never decay
Great is thy skill, oh builder
Thy fame shall endure for aye.

A teacher built a temple
With loving and infinite care
Planning each arch with patience
Laying each stone with prayer.
None saw the increasing effort
None knew of the wondrous plan
For the temple the teacher built
Was unseen by the eyes of man.

Gone is the builder’s temple
Crumbled into the dust
Low lies each stately pillar
Food for consuming rust.

But the temple the teacher built
Will last while the ages roll
For the teacher the temple built
Was a child’s immortal soul.

These are powerful words giving a powerful message. We are all teachers, whether of our own or others’ children. One of the most powerful forms of teaching is our own role modelling. A simple question to ponder: What sort of temple are you building for the future?

Wonderful to see Holly Manning being so kind and helpful to another person in the playground recently… thankyou! Now, that’s living your faith!

You’re really bugging me again! More ladybirds belonging to Benjamin and Rebekah from Room 8.
