Microsoft Word 97/2000 Makes Faxing Easy

In response to the user question: How does the Fax Wizard work?

The Microsoft Fax Wizard makes it easy to quickly create faxes and other documents, such as memos, letters, reports, and brochures. If you want to use the Fax Wizard to send a document, your computer must support faxing. You need a modem that is configured appropriately and fax software. The fax software can be Microsoft software that ships with Microsoft Windows (MS-FAX for Microsoft Windows® 95 or Fax for Microsoft Windows® 2000) or a third-party fax software, such as Delrina WinFax. (Note: Win98 does not come with Fax software - Bernie)

The Fax Wizard asks you a series of questions to help you create a cover sheet and fax a document. You identify the document to be faxed, the name of the sender, the recipients, the type of cover sheet, and the fax software. You can set the Fax Wizard to send the fax or to print the cover sheet and document so that you can fax them from a fax machine.

To create and send a fax with the Fax Wizard:

  1. On the File menu, click New.
  2. On the Letters & Faxes tab, double-click Fax Wizard.
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen.
