Alexis is our 2nd child. She was born in 1994 just 9 1/2 months after her sister. I went in for my 6 week check-up after having Vanessa and was told I was pregnant. I was so scared. I made an appointment with an OB. He told me that because Vanessa had died I needed to also be seen by a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist.  So during my pregnancy I was seen by both doctors at least every 2 weeks and for the last trimester I had 3 doctor appointments per week. ! with the OB and 2 with the M.F.M.S. for ultrasounds and non-stress tests. With so many ultrasounds we were positive that we were having a girl. Her daddy decided on the name Alexis and I picked Brienna to go with it. Every week we would watch Alexis grow. I was due in November but in October I was told that it was time for her to come out. They did not want to take any chances with her and neither did we. I was induced. Then in the evening on October 17th, 1994  Alexis was born. My family was gathered at the door with their ears pressed against it. When Alexis came out crying they all Cheered!! You see we never heard Vanessa cry so it was extra special hearing Alexis. She was pretty big for being 4 weeks early, 6lbs. 15 oz., but she was short (like her mommy) only 18" long.  From the time Alexis was a baby she showed a remarkable ability to learn. She spoke her first sentence at 9 mos. She heard a dog bark and jumped and said " Hu what's that?" I about jumped out of my skin.  LOL Since then she has continued to amaze us. She entered Elementary school at age 4 and after 4 weeks was placed into an Excel 1st grade class where she got the highest markings in the whole class. We are very proud of her. She is now 6 and is doing very well!!
