| Trenton is our 3rd child. When Alexis was about 6 months old she suddenly did not want to breastfeed. She would turn her little head away after only a min. of feeding. I was not feeling well so I assumed she was also getting sick. I continued to get weaker and weaker and my sister jokingly said " Maybe your pregnant again!" I just laughed. Later that week I decided to take a test because I was still feeling bad. It came out positive even before the 5 min. was up. I was scared again but less so this time. Again we had tests every week and we knew for sure that this child was a little boy. We were so happy. I was told during my whole pregnancy that he had lots of room to swim because I had 3xs the amniotic fluid that was normal. They were concerned but I refused an early amnio. I did not want to risk a miscarriage. Then when I was 35 weeks I went in for an appointment. The doctor said my blood pressure was going up and he wanted the baby out soon. They induced me at the hospital. But after 2 days of Pitocin I still had no contractions. They said that with so much fluid I couldn't contract. They did an amnio and found out his lungs were fine so they took me in for a C-section. After trying for an hour to give me a epidural they knocked me out. 15 min. later Trenton was born. He was huge!! Although he was 5 weeks early he weighed 8 lbs 3 oz. everyone was so shocked. I woke up to my husband telling me that our son was fine, but was born with a slight birth defect. I asked what and he said " He has an extra thumb on his right hand." I was shocked but I asked "Other than that is he OK?" My husband said yes and I fell back to sleep. When the anesthisia wore off I woke up to see my husband holding Trent. He was so cute and he had the roundest head, not all squished like his sisters were. Trenton grew so fast and when he was 1 1/2 we had his extra thumb removed. It was affecting the way he used that hand. Today Trenton is a very bright child. He is only 4 and already doing Math very well. He uses both of his hands equally and writes the same way with both. He loves to pick out his own clothes and is very picky about everything matching. He is quite a character and makes us laugh everyday. |
