Anggun
Anggun's first U.S. release, Snow On The Sahara is exotic sounding, but... accessible. It's not new age, but may appeal to new age fans. It's not rock, but some rock fans will appreciate it. Smooth jazz fans will like it - Sade's music comes to mind too (especially on "My Sensual Mind.") The title track, "Snow On The Sahara," is ocassionally remniscent in style perhaps to some of Enigma - but then again, it's quite unique, and will appeal to a much wider audience (IF they only get to hear it). "Over The Walls" has a pop sound like Katrina and the Waves' "Walking on Sunshine" sung to a melody from Flower Drum Song. This is however not an oriental CD. Some tunes have a latin flavor woven into it. More ? Okay, listen to "By The Moon" (and parts of some other tracks) and tell me you don't think of Sarah McLachlan.
CDnow has short samples from five tracks to help you decide. Although I'd like you to buy Anggun's CD through MY CDnow link, I recommend this CD cautiously, but DO recommend it. If you feel the need, you can probably listen to it in full at Borders, Barnes & Noble, or elsewhere, before you buy it (here).
