"FRATERNITY"

Author Unknown

If I could write one little word

  Upon the hearts of men,

I'd dip into the fount of love

  And write with golden pen

One little word and only one,

And feel life's work on earth well done:

For every heart would speak to me

That one sweet word "Fraternity".

The angel throng would sing a song,

  The sweetest ever heard,

If they could read in human hearts

  That precious little word,

For kindly thoughts and kindly deeds

Are the treasures more than crown and creeds:

In these the angel host would see

  The children of "Fraternity"

A man will need no other creed,

To guide him on life's sea

If he embarks upon the ark

  Of true Fraternity.

For love divine will clasp his hand

  And lead him to the promised land;

Love to his fellow-man shall be

His passport to eternity.

So Mote It Be

"THE APRON"

Author Unknown

Emblem more ancient,

    Then order is old,

Whose story, fancy,

    Has never all told.

Culled from the innocent

    Pro'type of Christ,

Worn in fulfillment

    To circumscribe vice.

Presented on entrance,

        In "Temples of Light."

To Entered Apprentices,

    Whose trust is placed right.

Worn by him proud

    Through life as a token,

OF acts unallowed,

    And secrets unspoken.

Placed on the coffin

    Of his last remains,

And emblem to soften

    Out loss, of its pains.

    "Masonry"

By Guy F. Bucher

Masonry is like a golden chain

the links are Masonic Brethren so dear.

And like a rare and precious jewel

it's treasured more each year.

It's clasped together firmly

with love that's deep and true

and its rich with many memories

and fond recollections too..

Time can't destroy this Brotherhood,

for as long as those memories live,

years can

t erase the pleasures

that the joy of Masonry gives..

For Masonry is a priceless gift

that can't be bought or sold,

but to have an understanding brother

is worth far more that gold..

And the golden chain of Masonry

is a strong and blessed tie,

binding Masonic hearts together

as the years go passing by.

This poem was delivered when the author was presented his 50 year membership pin on October 10, 1995 at the 75th Anniversary of Herndon Lodge No. 702.
